I Couldn’t Resist This Picture!
Wednesday, February 14th, 2007Tina Rankin from Monterey, TN sent us this picture of the bluebirds huddled up outside her window during this morning’s snow. I bet there was some warm air leaking from the corner of that window, and they all found the spot. What a great picture! By the way, they had a pretty good dusting up that way.
Thanks Tina.

No Comprende
Friday, February 9th, 2007We cannot even fathom what life on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, New York must be like with 7-8 feet of lake-effect snow.
These two are from Mexico, New York. The first photo is WOW enough… but the second one blows me away!

Oswego, New York Makes us feel a littly silly with our flurries on the back deck photos:-)

New Haven, New York Just a little something from the “honey-do” list!

New Haven, New York Just pretty!

You can check more amazing snow photos that were emailed to WSYR in Syracuse, New York.
Lake Effect Snow in Western New York
Thursday, February 8th, 2007You can read Jeff’s morning forecast entry here.
Here’s the view of a lake effect snow band in Western New York from yesterday, February 7th. Oswego Parish has seen 77″ of snow in the past few days as west winds sweep arctic air across a moisture-laden Lake Ontario. The narrow bands of heavy snow that develop downwind of the lake are convective in nature and occasionally yield observations of “thundersnow” - a good indication of very impressive snowfall rates that can surpass 5″ per hour. Cool stuff if you like winter weather!
Lingering Snow
Monday, February 5th, 2007The snow lingers in parts of the mid-state. Thanks to Mark Fagan of Gallatin for the snowy glimpse of Old Hickory Lake.
