Today? Rain

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Yesterday- amazing; today- wet.

We’ll briefly get to the 60 degree range today before the rains arrive mid-day. By afternoon temperatures will be in the mid-50’s or almost 20 degrees cooler than yesterday afternoon. The south wind will pick up later today and hold in the 10-15mph range.

Tonight clouds and a low ceiling of clouds with temperatures holding in the lwo 50’s all night. Tomorrow not as much rain (the better chances are south) and afternoon temperatures a little warmer. Highs in the mid-60’s. Below you see the rain coming in by the noon hour according to Predictor:

Last Friday visited two schools to talk to all their 3rd graders about weather safety, that is a picture of the kids at Longview Elementary in Spring Hill.

As we start our severe weather season I take it as a personal mission to share tornado and severe weather safety tips to as many school kids as possible. Thanks to all those teachers for letting me come and disrupt their hectic day schedules and thanks to all the librarians for giving up their room for the hour!

If you hit the link you can see video of all the kids!

Nice Monday Weather

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Despite the fact it is Monday the weather might lighten the mood. Wonderful weather again today as enough sunshine teamed with a southwest wind gets us into the upper 60’s. This could be the warmest day so far in 2010.

Tonight the mild weather continues, lows in the mid-40’s (about were the average highs were just last week).  Rain in the forecast tomorrow, this is how Predictor shows the rain chances by noon tomorrow:

Noon Tomorrow

Some wet weather this week. Strong storms are possible by Wednesday afternoon in our western counties, that storm threat moves over all of our area by night. If it clears out by Thursday morning a breezy day should get the temperatues to 70’s for the first time since mid-November of last year.  Expect some wet weather this week with a major low parked out in the midwest through Thursday.

Weekend sunshine, riding a warming trend

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Temperatures in the 20s and 30s this morning won’t last long; ample sunshine will boost readings to the mid-50s later today.

We’ll dip below freezing tonight, but a bigger warm-up is scheduled for Sunday and Monday. Look for highs in the low-to-mid-60s as sunshine continues and a light south breeze develops. Sunday will be the warmest afternoon Nashville has seen in nearly two weeks, so enjoy!

Rain is in the forecast on Tuesday, with spotty t’showers on Wednesday and widespread t’showers on Thursday.

Have a great weekend!

Fine Weather Ahead

Friday, March 5th, 2010

As if to pay us back for this string of cold, cloudy weather great early Spring weather shows up just in time for the weekend. Yesterday a glimpse of it, today a few degrees warmer. Highs should reach into the low 50’s with a little less in that north wind (today the 11th day in a row of a wind from NW to NE). Lots of sunshine today, lots of sunshine this weekend. Highs Saturday in the mid-50’s, highs Sunday in the low 60’s. Great weather two weeks before Spring.

Below you see how High pressure parked over the midwest shifts to the east and brings in warmer air. It also builds up a storm system in the midwest that gets here by Tuesday.

A Little Better…

Highs Today

At least we’ll have some sunshine today, it’ll help get the afternoon temperatures at least into the upper 40’s.  That represents a high about 10 degrees below normal and the warmest it has been in March so far (and just about the last week and a half). Skies should get to mostly clear tonight with lows dropping to the mid-20’s. Tomorrow’s highs reflect a day with even more sunshine and weaker north wind: highs in the low 50’s. By Sunday winds shift to the south and we enjoy highs in the 60’s.

This Weekend

Another Cold Day

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Headlines

At least we’ll avoid another shot a snow but expect another cold winter day here in early March. We’ll have some flurries and occasional drizzle today as clouds try to clear from the northwest this afternoon. Highs today in the mid-40’s with highs only in the upper 30’s on the plateau. Tonight lows in the upper 20’s with partly cloudy skies. Highs tomorrow a little warmer, upper 40’s. We don’t start getting close to typical highs for early March until Friday when we finally get into the 50’s. We hits the 60’s this weekend just in time for the Lawn and Garden Show in Nashville at the Fairgrounds. A reminder that indeed, March brings us Spring.  Below you see how Predictor keeps clouds and even light, patch drizzle around middle Tennessee into early afternoon:
