A batch of mid-level clouds has covered our area this morning, and it’s limiting our warm-up (at 11:00 a.m. it was just 56 degrees in Nashville).
The good news is that the clouds will clear during the afternoon. As sunshine returns, temperatures will jump to the upper 60s. Areas toward Alabama will see sun return during the early afternoon, while Nashville and the I-40 corridor will have to wait until 3:00 p.m. or later (my rough estimate based on the late morning satellite loop).
We’re still expecting showers and some thunder most of the day on Sunday; there’s a chance that a few storms may contain hail or gusty wind.
On Monday as the cold upper level low pressure passes by, temperatures will be in the upper 30s or 40s with clouds and lingering drizzle. Dare I say it; some of the higher elevations may see wet snowflakes mixing with the light rain on Monday, just on account of the cold air aloft. We’ll watch that part of the forecast and keep you posted.
Oh yeah, spring officially kicks off today at 12:32 p.m. central time. It’s the vernal equinox, which means equal day and night as we transition from the cold, short days of winter into the long, hot days of summer.
