We’ll have temperatures today again below freezing all day, an afternoon high today around 28 degrees forecasted. Partly sunny today with enough of a northwest wind to create wind chills in the teens. Tonight we’ll get down into the low teens (again). While highs tomorrow might get at least to freezing tomorrow clouds will start to show up by afternoon. These clouds bring snow by the early morning hours on Thursday. The current forecast is for 2″-4″ of snow on the ground by Thursday night, the first large accumulating snow for the Nashville area this year. In fact, if 2.5″ of snow falls it would be the biggest single snow since 2003! Below you can see how Predictor puts snow here starting the early morning hours on Thursday and has a good snow in progress over the northern half by 6am:

Hey guys..
Well the talk of a little more snow excites me.. Winter Storm Watches to the West and Northwest; for blowing snow, and 2-4 inches..
Heres a little snippet from the NWS here in Nashville..
“THAT BRIEF LITTLE BIT OF WX SANITY GIVES WAY TO WINTER WEATHER
INSANITY TO THE EXTREME. SNOW…BLOWING SNOW…BRUTALLY COLD TEMPS…
JUST TO NAME A FEW. FIRST THE SNOW…STARTING EARLY THU MORNING WITH
0.5-2.0 INCHES OVER THE NW COUNTIES BY 6 AM THU…ANOTHER 1-2
INCHES DURING THE DAY THU…AN ADDITIONAL 0.5 INCHES THU NGT…
FLURRIES TO 0.5 INCHES ON FRI. THE ONLY MONKEY WRENCH IN THIS SCENARIO
IS THE WATER-SNOW RATIO. IF 10:1 IS TOO LOW AND 15:1 IS MORE LIKELY
THEN OBVIOUSLY THESE AMOUNTS WOULD INCREASE BY 50 PERCENT.
ALSO…IF THE RATIO IS MORE LIKE 15:1 THEN BLOWING SNOW WOULD
BECOME A SGFNT FACTOR. THESE AMOUNTS ASSUME 10:1 AND I AM PREDICTING
2-4 INCHES TOTAL WITH ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS. DAYSHIFT WILL
LIKELY ISSUE A WSW FOR THE AREA… MAINLY FOR THU.”
WSW in the works? Special Weather Statement as already been updated for today.. Click on my name and you will go right to the NWS Site..
My thoughts still havent changed any on my snow accumulations here in Centerville..
CENTERVILLE, TN
2.5 INCHES; With blowing snow, causing a little drifting snow..
THOUGHTS?
Looks like we’re finally going to get some snow! This may be the first time in quite a while that most of the county school systems across Middle TN will be CLOSED! I’m sure the kids and teachers are doing their snow dance right now.
Let it snow!
I LOVE IT!!!!!
Yep it is looking a lot more promising! I think Perry County will see around 3 inches if not more. And so with a lot of other middle TN counties.
Not getting too excited yet. To many times over the years that a sure thing has meant 0 in Nashville. Now don’t get me wrong, I would love to see it, but I’ll believe it when it happens.
[...] to reach a balmy high of 28 degrees, and the forecast for 2″-4″ of snow on Thursday is looking more and more likely. Snow in Nashville? You know what that means – Panic! Hit the stores and buy out everything [...]
OK so I just saw the update from the NWS. School probably will be closed on Thurs and Friday, if not for snow than for cold air.
To add a bit of information to Ryan’s glog, usually when Nashville is forecasted for snow, we are on the out skirts of the system. However this one looks like it’s bearing directly over the entire Nashville area. My point being? There is still room for the system to adjust itself over the next 24 hours and we STILL get snow!
