A snow band looks to set up starting late tomorrow around east Texas and Lousiana. This unusal snow will pass well to our south and southeast, as close as the northeast half of central Alabama and northern Georgia clipping the Chattanooga area. This is the system we’ve been talking about the last two days as bringing some flurries Saturday morning up on the plateau and across our southeast corner (Manchester/Winchester). Its cold enough for any to stick to the grassy spots if enough falls, I’d say right now this is more likely in Tracy City then say Cookeville (site of the Blue Cross Bowl games starting tonight).
This is the latest forecast from the HPC on the likelyhood of a 4″ snow occuring from Texas over to Mississippi. It shows only about a 10% chance down in the deep south:

By later that day and evening on Saturday we’ll likely see a good snow up in the Smokies:

This is going to be an active weather pattern this early winter with a series of gulf Lows moving across the gulf coast and crossing southern Alabama and Georgia then following up the Appalachain. This is a typical signature of an El Nino winter, one where Jackson and Biringham might get more snow this winter than Nashville.
Already the rumors are flying about snow this weekend. As it looks now it will amount to some snow on the grass up on the plateau the our southeast corner of middle Tennessee. We might see some flurries a little further west but not much more than a cloudy, cold day. No worries about the roads and travel.

That’s very depressing news.
I Would like to see this storm system track a little further north and give us our first good snow.
Come on! Move further NORTH!!!!
Yeahhh wish that low would move further north!! I want a good snow here soon!!
Whats going on Cody, havent seen you in a while..
[...] It’s probably going to snow on Saturday, just not here. However, we did spy some snow on the forecast for next Wednesday. [NashvilleWX] [...]
This system coming in next Wednesday might give us some flurries, because its not looking very favorable for a good snow.
