Rain by Afternoon

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Rain moving up this morning from the south; a wet afternoon and evening in store for us.  We are not expecting severe weather nor heavy rain but it’ll be a good soaking due to its duration. The rain should still be around by late evening before tapering off around midnight. Skies should clear out some through the day on Wednesday, it should also be dry most of Thursday. By late that night and Friday more rain, this time in the form of strong storms, especially on Friday. Below you can gage the throughness of the rain for noon and evening:

Great Day Today; Umbrellas Needed Tuesday As Gulf Low Pushes Our Way

Monday, October 26th, 2009

 low-10-261

Enjoy the outdoors this afternoon if you can, because tomorrow will be on the wet side.  A low pressure center is forming in the Gulf of Mexico and will push towards Tennessee on Tuesday.  This puts our rain chances 80% or higher tomorrow.  The rain should be pushing in during the morning hours.  One half to one inch of rain is likely with this system.  It will push out pretty quickly, yielding a nice day on Wednesday.

The next system should bring showers and t’storms late Thursday and on Friday.  Some of the storms on Friday could be strong or severe.  It’s a little too early to pin down details, but we will keep you posted as the week wears on.

Nice Monday, Wet Tuesday

Monday, October 26th, 2009

We have clouds building up through the afternoon but a pleasant day ahead, highs around 70 degrees and a mild southeast wind. Overnight the clouds thicken enough to start bringing some rain chances into middle Tennessee, rain chances by tomorrow afternoon are rather high. Wet weather for our Tuesday and Tuesday night but no for our Wednesday. However by Thursday night and Friday more rain to add to what has already been a wet month. Below you see how Predictor increases the rain chances through the day tomorrow.

Nice Monday After A Chilly Start; Rain Tuesday

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

As mentioned before, temps will drop to the upper 30s in the city with mid 30s north and east of town.  One thing we want to add is patchy fog.  The fog will be especially thick near lakes and rivers where water temperatures are still relatively warm.

But after the chilly start, temps will rebound nicely to the low 70s by the afternoon hours.

On Tuesday, a low pressure center coming out of the Gulf of Mexico will bring rain back to the area.  This will be a quick moving system and by Wednesday, the rain will exit with temps still in the 70s for highs.

Cool Night; Mild Monday Afternoon

lows-10-25

highs-10-251

We will start off on the cool side on Monday morning with temps around 39-40 in the city, and in the mid 30s north and east of town.  There should be a little scattered frost in the morning, as well, so keep the windshield scraper handy before you head out to work or school.

However, by the afternoon hours, temps should moderate to the low 70s for highs with a southeast wind picking up to around 10mph by then.

Our next chance for rain is on Tuesday as a low pressure center moves our way out of the Gulf of Mexico.

Cold Start Sunday With Frost & Fog; Then A Milder Afternoon

sundays-lows-10-25

With temperatures dropping to the mid to upper 30s, scattered frost and fog are expected to develop.  Keep that in mind if you have early morning plans.

However, as the day wears on, temps should warm to the mid 60s by the afternoon hours with just a few thin high clouds and abundant sunshine.

Sunshine A Nice Sight This Afternoon; Cool Night; Nice Sunday In Store

city-cam-10-24

After the cloudy and chilly start this morning (with a few patches of drizzle), it sure was nice to see the sun reappear as expected this afternoon.  With clear skies tonight, temps will be dropping to the upper 30s in the city, with mid 30s in some of the outlying areas, especially north and east of Nashville.  We could see some scattered frost, especially in those northern and eastern counties.

On Sunday, we only expect some thin feathery cirrus clouds to push through with an otherwise mostly sunny sky.  After a chilly start with some scattered frost, particularly in the eastern counties, temps should moderate to the mid 60s by afternoon (upper 60s to the south of Nashville).

Saturday starts with clouds but ends with sun

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Low clouds are slowly moving across Tennessee Friday night and on Saturday they should stick around the first half of the day. I can’t rule out some isolated drizzle during that time frame, although I think most spots will be dry.

The clouds should break up through the early afternoon in Nashville (and along the I-65 corridor). I expect sunshine to return by late morning for the western half of Middle Tennessee. On the flip side, clouds will be a bit more stubborn for areas east of Nashville toward the Cumberland Plateau, and could hang tough into the afternoon.

Temperatures will drop to the upper 40s early Saturday morning, but rebound to the upper 50s by the end of the day. Lower 60s are possible west of Nashville (where there’s a bit more sunshine).

Aside from some high clouds, Sunday looks mostly sunny with temperatures jumping to the middle 60s.

Have a great weekend!

Saturday temperatures will be about 10 degrees below average.

Patchy Drizzle To Continue Off & On Today; Steady Rains East of I-65

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

The steady rains have now pushed east of I-65.  However, we have some “pesky” patchy drizzle off and on all the way back to the Mississippi River and westward into Arkansas (see Animated Regional Radar & click “back” to return).

Initially, we expected all precipitation to be gone in time for high school football games this evening.  However, we could still see off and on drizzle during the games with temps falling through the 50s.  Dress to stay dry and warm.
