More Great Fall Weather

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Headlines

We continue to dry out today with very low dewpoints and lots of sunshine. Highs today in the low 70’s. This morning tempertures dropped down into the 40’s at the Nashville airport for the first morning in 133 mornings (last time was May 20th) so the feel to air as you step outside is a little unfamiliar.  Yesterday’s high was only in the 60’s for the first time since early June.

We won’t have an entire week of dry weather, rain is back in the forecast by late Thursday and early Friday. Highs will stay in the 70’s both days.

Check out the deep blue sky seen by the News 2 City Cam.  The air is clean and dry!

Below are some 7am temps which were generally this morning’s lows:

Enjoy the fall like weather which will continue for another several days with highs in the upper 60s to near 70 today and in the 70s the rest of the week.  Lows for the next two nights should be in the 40s.

A lot of people are asking if the wet September will yield good fall colors this year.  I am setting up an interview with the TN Division of Forestry and hope to have a story on that on News 2 at 4pm today.  Tune us in!

Cool Day Ahead, More Chill Tonight

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Tuesday wake-up temperatures are in the 40s and lower 50s. Look for lots of sunshine this morning, and a partly cloudy sky this afternoon (a few more clouds east of Nashville toward the Cumberland Plateau). Northwest breezes will blow at 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight should be a bit chillier than last night, with lows in the middle 40s in most spots.

More sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs of 73 and 77 degrees.

On Friday, a morning front will bring the opportunity for some thundershowers.

todays-highs-9-28

lows-9-28

Our first taste of fall is here and it sure feels good!  I’m not a cold weather fan, but these types of temperatures are great.  It will be a little breezy from the northwest today with northwest winds 10-20mph.  Highs will be in the low 70s to the north and mid 70s to the south.  Tonight and early tomorrow morning you may need the jacket for the first time this fall as temperatures fall into the 40s by daybreak Tuesday.  The nice weather will continue for several more days, with temps moderating a little towards the end of the work week, followed by a chance for showers on Friday.

Feeling like Fall!

Monday, September 28th, 2009

A cold front blew through Nashville around 6:00 a.m. this morning, and a gusty northwest wind will set up shop for the next couple of days.

Expect cool and blustery conditions with gusts today around 30 mph. Clouds early this morning will yield to a mostly sunny sky, helping push temperatures into the lower 70s this afternoon.

Tonight looks quite chilly, with lows down to the middle 40s outside of Nashville!

On Tuesday, we may not get out of the upper 60s in the afternoon as a northwest wind persists.

Bring on the apple cider!

You Might Need A Jacket Monday Night!

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Our first taste of fall is still on track.  Monday’s highs will only be in the low to mid 70s with a northwesterly breeze blowing 10-2omph.   There will only be about a 10-20% chance for a few showers Monday morning with the leading edge of that cooler air.  After that the sun returns as the cooler air pushes in.

Monday night into Tuesday morning, temps will fall into the 40s, so you might break out the jackets for the first time!

outlook-9-27

By tomorrow morning our long awaited cold front will be pushing through Middle Tennessee.  There will only be a slight chance of a shower during the morning hours (20%), with the sun coming back out as the morning goes on.  It will be windy from the northwest with winds running 15-25 mph.  This will be bringing down temps that will only be in the low 70s for several days with lows in the 40s.  Click on the 7 Day Forecast to the right.

This will also keep the atmosphere dry as we head towards the end of the month which should end as the second wettest September ever.

Storms Pushing Through East MiddleTennessee; Fog Tonight; Nice Sunday

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

As of 10pm, most of the t’storm activity was in east and northeast Middle Tennessee.  There also is a possibility of an overnight shower in south Middle Tennessee, as well.  Otherwise, some patchy dense fog could develop overnight, so drive carefully early Sunday morning if the fog is thick in your area.

After the fog burns off on Sunday, we are expecting a nice day with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 70s to near 80.

That first taste of fall is still on track to move in during the day on Monday.  Check out the 7 Day Forecast to the right.

Scattered T’Showers This Evening; Overnight Fog; Nice Sunday; Fall Weather Next Week!

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Although the flooding rains are gone, if you look at Stormtracker above, you can see some of the scattered t’shower activity moving across the area this evening.   That will be in our eastern counties by midnight followed by some patchy dense fog.

On Sunday after the fog burns off, we expect a great day on Sunday with highs in the upper 70s to near 80.

And yes, that 7 Day Forecast (to the right) still shows that first nice taste of fall pushing in on Monday, yielding highs only in the low to mid 70s and lows in the upper 40s!

10am Update: Heavier Rains In East And South Middle Tennessee

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Nashville has seen the rains taper off to light to moderate rain during the last hour or so.  Meanwhile, heavier activity still exists in the eastern and southern sections of Middle Tennessee where Flash Flood Warnings and Flood Advisories remain in effect.

Click on the “Watches & Warnings” icon to the right for the latest and refresh often (it does not refresh on its own).

In Nashville and points north and west, expect rains to become widely scattered this afternoon with highs in the upper 70s.

Scroll down to reveiw some of the flooding from this morning.  Justin Bruce was out and about in Wilson, Davidson, and Williamson Counties this morning with his camera, and will have video on News 2 at 6 after the ball game.
