When will it rain today? Tricky question as a cold front starts to move toward us late afternoon. The air overhead has been unseasonable dry, that tends to evaporate storms moving in from the west/northwest until the system gets right on top of us (tonight and tomorrow morning). But I’ll stop with the meteorology and start with the forecasting (caveat: if the sun is still shinning by lunchtime we are going to be MUCH hotter).
Becoming mostly cloud with rain/storms developing by afternoon. A few rounds of storms/rain possible with another one tonight and one tomorrow morning. Scattered storms tomorrow afternoon. Highs today around 90 with a southwest wind. Cooler tomorrow with highs in the mid-80’s. The rain chances continue into Friday but are less. Weekend is now just starting to look freaky: models are now kicking out highs IN THE UPPER 70’s which would be perfectly normal if this were May. We’ll go with low 80’s and dry; extremely mild weather for mid-July. Below is Predictor showing not much happening by afternoon but the first big wave of rain hitting tonight. There is a risk of severe weather in the form of strong winds along with 1″ rains. We have already surpassed our typical monthly rain total for July, doing so before the halfway mark (30 year average: 3.77″, so far this month 3.82″).
