Some like it hot (but I don’t)

I, for one, am loving this weekend weather.  At 3:00 PM temperatures were in the upper 60s and lower 70s across most of Middle Tennessee.  Add some cloud cover and a brisk northwest breeze, and you’ve got a Fall-like day (in what is climatologically the hottest part of the summer).  As I tweeted a bit earlier, this feels more like Lake Wobegon than Nashville.

Temperatures this morning were quite cool; here’s a look at 6:00 AM conditions from Saturday morning:

McMinnville 51

Cookeville 54

Columbia 55

Murfreesboro 58

Clarksville 59

Nashville 60

Some records to discuss: the record low temperature tonight in Nashville is 57 set in 1976.  I don’t think we’ll get that cold in the city (on account of some cloud cover) but we should dip into the middle/upper 50s in most other towns.

Nashville should set a record “minimum maximum” temperature this afternoon.  We’ve only hit 75 degrees so far today, and the coolest high temperature on record is 76 degrees set in 1918.  Weird, huh?

The record “min max” for Sunday is 79 degrees (set in 1897).  I think Nashville’s afternoon temperature will stay that cool, if not around 77 or 78 (still finalizing my forecast).

Join me on News 2 at 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM to see how long the cool weather will stick around.

We bottomed out at 52.2ºF overnight here in Westmoreland. OHX is forecasting a high of 74ºF! I’m guessing we are still in mid July? :)
