Severe weather chances today limited to the plateau and east Tennessee. When you subtract the build up of afternoon clouds (or morning storms!) and a round of severe weather (every day so far this week) and replace it with a little sunshine you get temperatues in the mid 90’s. With a dewpoint temperature forecast to be at 70 (very high) this means a heat index of 103 degrees. If you are standing in full sun you can add ten or fifteen degrees to that number. This is our first really hot summer day (summer solstice by the way Saturday 12:45am) so take caution. Plenty of fluids and breaks, avoid sunshine hitting skin. Light colored clothing a must today. This is typical weather come mid-July so we’ll all get used to it (sort of). There is a threat of severe weather again on the plateau. Below is the Storm Prediction Center thoughts on the severe threat for eastern half of Tennessee. Below that showing how Predictor puts the storm chances on the plateau.
