Scattered Storms On Sunday; Some Relief From Heat & Huidity Mon-Wed

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

outlook-6-27

Sunday will be our last really hot day for a while as the leading edge of some slightly cooler and more importantly less humid air will be pushing towards Middle Tennessee.  This will result in some scattered t’showers breaking out fairly readily on Sunday, so keep an eye on the sky if you are outdoors.

By late Sunday night and Monday morning, we will begin to feel a little relief from the heat and humidity.  A second front will push through by Tuesday to reinforce the break in the sweltering summer weather.  If you click on the 7 Day Forecast to the right, you will see that there are no more 90s after Sunday.

Friday T’Storms & A Scorcher Saturday

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Thunderstorms are moving through parts of Tennessee this evening.  One storm in Stewart County prompted a Severe Thunderstorm Warning with nickle sized hail being reported just west of Dover.  These storms are hit and miss, but keep your eye on News 2 and NashvilleWX as more storms could develop as the evening progresses.  After these storms move out on Friday,  Saturday will be very hot with temperatures reaching into the mid to upper 90s for our area.  If you are outdoors on Saturday be sure to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water, as the heat index will make it feel more like the triple digits outside.

Hot Weather, Some Storm Chances

Friday, June 26th, 2009

This morning a complex of storms is moving out of Kentucky into Tennessee. We include rain chances and cloud cover for the start of the day with the better chances east of Nashville and onto the plateau. This is going to inhibit the warm-up somewhat, we’ll still have highs in the 90’s. The southern counties less effected by the morning storms, they’ll see highs in the mid-90’s. There is a chance for an afternoon storm but most the activity will hold till evening as a cold front draws near. That front becomes a stationary front lingering over Tennessee on Saturday, slight storm chances tomorrow but another hot day. A cold front from the northwest comes in on Sunday and brings us the best rain chance we’ve had all week.

Friday: Isolated Storms, 92

Friday Night: Evening Storms, 75

Saturday: Isolated Storms, 94

Sunday: Rain, Storms, 91

Quiet Tonight, T’Showers Tomorrow

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Thursday was another gorgeous day here in the mid-state with temperatures in the low 90s.  Friday is going to be a different story; however, as the rain chance moves back in.   You can see predictor below showing that around 2pm we can expect isolated shower in our area so be sure you have your umbrella handy for the lunchtime rush.

Predictor is also showing that the rain should increase to more scattered storms by the drive home.  Tune into News 2 tomorrow for the latest information on watches and warnings for our area.

To end on a sunny note, we are expecting that rain to move back out and give us a hot and sunny Saturday to enjoy.

Plus 90 Nine Days Running

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

We ended Spring and got into Summer with a run of 90 plus weather in progress. I suspect this run will go to Sunday before some cooler, north air moves it and knocks the highs all the way down to the… upper 80’s. How does this current warm spell bode for the 89 remaining days of summer? Here is the Climate Prediction Center’s take on it. A chance of BELOW normal temperatures. Makes one hopeful.

July Outlook

Hot Weather Returns

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Highs today will get close to the mid-90’s, a little warmer than yesterday as well as little more humid. Mostly sunny skies will prevail again along with a north/northeast wind. Temperatures are going to stay on the warm side through the weekend with a heat index again getting close to 105 (just like last weekend!). Slight rain chances tomorrow and tomorrow night but a better chance on Sunday. After Sunday a couple of cooler days with highs in the 80’s (breaking a streak of 12 days in a row of 90 plus degree highs).

Nice Summer Weather

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Today was a beautiful day in the mid-state with temperatures in the low 90s and dew points in the lower 60s making it less humid.  This is a nice break from the hot, muggy weather we have had the past week or so, but unfortunately the heat will return by the weekend.  So get outside both this evening and tomorrow and enjoy this break before it warms back up and the rain chances return!  We could see one or two showers Thursday afternoon/evening, but its more likely on Friday.

Stuck in the 90’s

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Today will make the 8th day in a row of a high starting with the number 9. Even though the AVERAGE high this time of year is 86, the average of late: 92.8.  August in June. Rain chances willow down to below 10% over the next couple of days (until Friday). Mostly sunny skies teamed with a northeast wind, that wind is attempting to pull down the humidity. Yesterday it took all day before the dewpoints started to drop just a little, the trend continues today. Perhaps not as humid as the weekend and Monday but still a hot June day in store for us. Storm Threat is to our northwest today, those storms will threaten areas well to our west this afternoon and evening.
