Storms wind down

Monday afternoon’s thunderstorms were winding down around 7:00 PM.

A storm in Montgomery County knocked down several trees, and the National Weather Service reported that a tree fell onto a house on Fairway Rd at 4:25 PM.  Given the storm’s quick intensification and high lightning count, that report sounds believable.  An earlier storm knocked down trees and damaged outbuildings near the Kentucky state line in Clay County at 2:45 PM.

A hot and humid day is expected Tuesday. Look for highs in the 90s. A pop-up thundershower is possible tomorrow afternoon, but I think we’ll see fewer showers than we did today. That will improve our odds at heating up; I’m going for 93 degrees in Nashville and most areas south of I-40. Did I mention the humidity? Dewpoints will run in the middle to upper 60s (at least) so it will feel very, very sultry Tuesday afternoon.
