Storms are crossing Nashville just in time to slow down the afternoon drive home. The storms will contain lots of lightning and heavy downpours, and the possibility of hail in a few spots. Head inside if the storms are in your area.
I’ll have more on the storms and we’ll look ahead to Tuesday’s heat on News 2 this afternoon at 4:00 PM, 4:30 PM, 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

Well, we got ‘cheated’ (just a few sprinkles) on the first line of storms here in Cookeville. It looked pretty strong until it got here.
Wife and daughters were up in Lafayette earlier and reported strong winds, alot of lightning, and heavy downpours….
Maybe we’ll do better on the subsequent storms!

What’s so unusual about the southwest to northeast storm motion, Justin?
We certainly can, and do, see storms moving northeast, but the unusual thing was that all of the storms were drifting southeast at 15 mph before that one got going.
An outflow boundary interacted with the storm in Montgomery County and caused it to “blow up” around 3:30 pm south of Clarksville. Check out the radar animation on the NWS Nashville radar site, I think you’ll find it interesting!
