Is the worse going to be south.
Why not issue one for all of Middle Tn.
Are we not to worry.

I feel that it will be more of a line when it reaches middle TN
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Seneca is near the Arkansas and Oklahoma borders in Missouri…near I-44 that runs from Tulsa to Springfield…..that’s too bad about the fatalities.
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Well it looks like Mid. Tn may excape alot of the ation with this system. I feel like an idiot. I was thinking we would get pounded by storms, but we may not even get into a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. If we get that then will be lucky.
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
I hope you are right Dave. I hate these sleepless nights. I hope the storms will weaken way before they get to the Cookeville area.
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Vandy it will get rough here dont let the placement of that Tornado watch fool you.
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
I just dont think we will see the supercells they are seeing to the west… more of a squall line for us
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Been watching the SVR T-STORM and Tornado Warnings being issued and at one point, there were 20 WARNINGS issued in just 30 minutes. *AMAZING*

on May 10th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Vandyman…
Not to Worry? We will get storms? I hope that makes you happy?
Confused much…I guess . LOL. Joking.

May 10, 2008, 8:31 pm | Bill Murray | Severe Weather
Here are some reports from the west of Alabama.
MEMPHIS REGION
…Storm Chaser Jeff Piotrowski reports major damage in Stuttgart, AR. This is 90 miles SW of Memphis. This storm was near Almyra at 816. Damage has also been reported at DeWitt. It has a 10 out of 10 on the Baron BTI system. Never seen it. Storm tops to 50,000 feet. Incredible lightning.
…Also from Stuttgart…law enforcement reports TORNADO at 08:07 PM CDT — elderly woman trapped in her residence. numerous trees down across stuttgart.
…A dangerous potentially tornadic storm is crossing the river near Robinsonville south of Memphis.
…Another dangerous storm passing south of Wynne AR. This is about 50 miles west of Memphis.
LITTLE ROCK
…Tornado warning for Johnson, Pope and Logan Counties. Strong rotation near Clarksville AR. Same strom produced a tornado at Watalula at 8 p.m.
SHREVEPORT
…strong rotation 25 miles NNW of Texarkana in Sevier County…
CLOSER TO HOME…
Lien of thunderstorms along the warm front from the Florence area to near Moulton…to south of Decatur…to Gadsden to Heflin. This activity is lifting northward.
The activity over SE Arkansas and western Tennessee is going to be dropping east southeastward over the next several hours. It is impact northern Mississippi and get into northern Alabama around midnight.
These storms will have plenty of instability to feed on and the shear will increase as the upper system approaches, so we are in for a rough night.
It will also be a long night as a powerful squall line will move through the state during the predawn hours. It will produce widespread wind damage and possibly tornadoes.
A tornado watch is in effect until 2 a.m. for much of North and Central Alabama.
A SIDE NOTE
…There is a major tornado outbreak killing people across the U.S. and The Weather Channel is showing Epic Conditions. Sigh…
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
I just don’t see alot happening with Nashville’s DP’s in the mid-50’s. But as the warm front inches it’s way towards us, I guess that will bump it back up.
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
we are still north of the warm front .. .Dewpt at 753 was 59 and still rising.
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Springhilldave, or anyone who might know- I hardly ever post, but read often- I am wondering, I am in the WIlliamson county side of Spring Hill. Is Williamson co in the watch or not? I am getting really nervous! I have 2 small kids and I am pregnant, and I want to keep everyone safe!!! I am obsessed with weather, but don’t know much. Is everyone thinking this will turn into more of a squall line event for spring hill/nashville/franklin?
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Williamson County is not in the watch, but you could be in one soon so don’t let your guard down. Congrats on the third baby coming may I add. But as far as the squall line event goes, I can’t answer that. Sorry.
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Eric over at tennesseewx had an updated one for Nashville and Birmingam to show us the differnece in the air from there to here and Nashville was reporting a DP at 55. And Birmingham was reporting in the upper 60’s I believe.
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
I just put my 7 month-old down for the night just a minute ago….hopefully, she’s asleep for the evening…we’ll see!
on May 10th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Thanks guys, it makes me feel better that I am not alone watching all this!! I agree with the previous comment about the weather channel. All this going on and they had normal programming!!!
on May 10th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Yeah, What part of the word “Weather” does The Weather Channel not get?
on May 10th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
If it ain’t man-made global warming (hoax), the Weather Channel has no interest in it.
on May 10th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Well, what do you know…TWC is showing WEATHER!….I’m shocked!
http://www.cookevilleweatherguy.com
on May 11th, 2008 at 12:26 am
I agree the weather channel sucks.
Pouring carbon dioxide into the air in such a quick and unprecedented way will by no means have a predictable response.
On a more relevant note, I went outside just now and almost got struck by lightening. I still feel the “tinglies” of static electricity — in a storm, very scary indeed. Time to get away from the computer!
on May 11th, 2008 at 12:43 am
Stars were shining brightly here in Dickson for a little while.. Might get to see some storms when the STRONG cold front comes through..
on May 11th, 2008 at 12:51 am
Finally able to post again! This system is a bust for our area! Which is good we got some good rain though.
on May 11th, 2008 at 8:08 am
“If it ain’t man-made global warming (hoax), the Weather Channel has no interest in it.”
I didn’t say anything about it last night, but in the future, please keep your politics off this weather blog.
on May 11th, 2008 at 8:09 am
“Pouring carbon dioxide into the air in such a quick and unprecedented way will by no means have a predictable response.”
This is not the place for your assertions.
