You May Wake To The Sound of Thunder

Showers and storms will be pushing our way from the northwest overnight tonight between midnight and sunrise.   One small storm broke out near Ashland City just after 10:00pm this evening.  After midnight, more showers and storms could be nearing our northwestern counties, and by 2-3am could be pushing to near the Nashville area.  We will watch them closely on Stormtracker.  Tune into The Nashville Weather Channel to see the latest radar, as well as any warnings (if needed).  We will also have the latest on Channel 2.  Justin Bruce will be manning the morning shift with the latest.

Scattered Activity Breaking Out In The Afternoon Heat

Keep an eye on the sky if you are outdoors this afternoon and evening.  We have been waiting for scattered t’storms to break out, and as of 2:25pm a few were already doing so just north of Nashville.  Expect the scattered activity to increase as the afternoon wears on.

In addition, a storm complex in southwest Missouri will be moving our way overnight.  Although it may weaken some as it moves our way during the night time hours, expect some lightning and thunder late tonight and during the early morning hours of Sunday.

Then expect more storms to break out on Sunday as a frontal boundary positions itself across Middle Tennessee.

All of the above storm chances include the possibility of strong or severe storms with chances for damaging winds, and hail.  We’ll be watching Stormtracker and will keep you posted.

Scattered Storms on Saturday & Sunday

Warm and humid weather is in the forecast for the foreseeable future.

Southwest winds will boost temperatures to the upper 80s this afternoon. A front will move into the Mid-South this afternoon and cause scattered thunderstorms to develop. Additional thunderstorms are possible Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon as the front lingers.

The Storm Prediction Center puts Tennessee under a “slight risk” for severe weather today and tomorrow. Expect plenty of lightning with any storms that pop up, with hail and briefly strong winds under the strongest storms.

Scattered T’Showers on Saturday

More hot and humid weather for Saturday will help trigger a line of scattered storms moving from northern counties the first half of the day to the southern counties by the late afternoon.  Some folks will get a good gully-washer (that would be a heavy downpour), while others may only get a passing shower.  We don’t expect widespread severe weather, but will probably be a warning or two for isolated cells that whip up the wind or produce small hail.

Can’t rule out a few isolated t’showers… especially south of I-40… on Sunday, but not as much action as Saturday.

Quiet but Warm on This Friday Night

It will take a while before temps make it down to the 70s after sunset which isn’t until 2 minutes before 8PM.  Lows only drop to near 70 overnight.

Still warm and humid on Saturday.  Yes, scattered showers and storms during midday and afternoon hours will spoil a few outdoor events.  It will be hit and miss so you will have to keep an eye on the sky and, of course, on StormTracker right here at NashvilleWX.com

Little Warmer…

Today’s high will be in the upper 80’s. We’ll start with some fog around; by afternoon a few clouds pop up but we’ll spend most of the late morning and early afternoon with mostly sunny skies. A south wind this morning picks up this afternoon as it turns southwest. There is a frontal boundary heading towards us, it will produce storms chances tomorrow (and a slight risk of severe weather). In fact we could get two rounds- one in the morning and one in the afternoon. If the front is STILL around on Sunday like some models suggest we could have a larger rain/storm event.

The annual Tour de Cure is this weekend, a two-day bike tour to benefit the American Diabetes Association.  As Honorary Chairperson of the ride I would like to thank all those hard-working volunteers who make this event possible and so enjoyable. The REAL chairperson is my good friend Carrie Rollins who can get more done in a day than people like me get done in a week.  Glenda Berry works for the ADA and is the director of the event- she has been getting even less sleep than me over the last month and that’s saying something.  There are dozens of people who show up every year and volunteer all day and all weekend to help the 300 plus riders going from Murfreesboro to Sewanee and back.

I have family members stricken with diabetes- it is the reason I ride. If you would like to make a small donation to the cause below is a link to my team website (Ray Chiropractic, team captain is my wife Fawn). I would really be grateful.

Give to the American Diabetes Association.

Crankin’ Up the Heat!

High temperatures in the upper 80s for many, many days to come!  Time to crank up the AC and the electric bill! :-(

A few spotty t’showers on Friday… a better chance of heavier storms on Saturday.

Warm and Dry Thursday Evening

Temps will hold in the 70s most of the evening while clouds continue to clear.

A summer like pattern begins on Friday and it may not let up for…   well, maybe several months! :-)

High temps will push into the mid to upper 80s Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Scattered t’showers are possible from Nashville east from midday through late afternoon on Friday.

A little better chance anyone in middle Tennessee could get one of those pop-up storms on Saturday or Sunday.
