Dry and Warm Today

Mostly sunny day in store for us as we enjoy a warm April day. Mostly dry conditions this week; only slight chances of rain out to the western counties tomorrow. Most of us will have to wait till Friday to get some a real good chance for some free water. Highs today will be a few degrees above normal for this time of year:

Rain chances start showing up to the west. Slight chances by Wednesday for most of middle Tennessee.

Beautiful Sunday; Patchy Dense Fog Monday Morning; Then Sunny & Warm!

city-cam-4-20.jpg

After a damp and cool Saturday, it was nice to see the sunshine today. Highs were in the upper 60s to near 70 this afternoon. Tonight will bring clear skies and mid 40s by daybreak along with some patchy dense fog in the morning. Drive carefully during your rush hour commute if the fog is thick in your area. After the fog burns off, the sun will be out in full force, with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s.

On Tuesday, we should touch 80 with a few isolated spring like pop up afternoon t’showers mostly in west Middle Tennessee.

Cue the Warming Trend

In a nutshell:

Temperatures will climb through the 50s this morning and hit 70 degrees later today.

We start the day mostly sunny, and should be partly cloudy through the afternoon.

Winds will be light and variable.

Looking ahead:

A nice warming trend through the next 48 hours; upper 70s on Monday and near 80 degrees on Tuesday.

A few late day t’showers are possible on Tuesday.

The patten Wednesday through next weekend will feature the chance of a shower or t’shower each day, although it certainly won’t be a washout.

Warmer west of I-65 and a bit cooler to the east.

Cool & Damp Saturday; Improvement By Sunday Afternoon

satellite-4-19.jpg

The low pressure seen above continued to spin some clouds and showers our way today, but if you look at a satellite loop, you can see that it is making progress to the east. Skies will remain cloudy through around lunchtime on Sunday (some morning fog, as well) before sunshine re emerges during the afternoon. Temps will be slow to rise at first from the 40s through the 50s on Sunday, but will shoot up to around 71 by around 4-5pm. Jackets will be in order for the first half of the day, but only t shirts will be needed by late afternoon.

Weekend Forecast

Nashville picked up 0.43″ of rain Friday evening but we’re back in the sunshine this morning. Wake-up temperatures are in the 40s as a breeze blows from the southwest at 10 mph.

Last night’s rain came courtesy of a cold front (now moving through East Tennessee). The upper level low pressure that drove yesterday’s front will bring a few more passing showers this afternoon. The rain chance is best along and north of I-40, and less across southern Middle Tennessee.

Despite a mostly cloudy sky this afternoon highs should hit the lower 60s. It will be breezy with winds near 15 mph.

Lows tonight will dip to the 40s, but we’ll begin a nice warming trend on Sunday. Temperatures tomorrow will reach the lower 70s and approach 80 degrees on Monday.

A few showers are possible this afternoon.

Rainy Friday Evening

Moderate rain will slide west to east across middle Tennessee this evening. It looks like the wet weather will be moving out of the area after midnight. We could have a rumble of thunder with a couple of lightning strikes possible, but we are not expecting any severe weather.

We may have some moments of sunshine early Saturday, but clouds will warp around and even allow a few pockets of sprinkles or drizzle here and there. It will be cooler with highs topping out in the 60s.

Sunday brings the sunshine and 70s back to the midstate.

Storms Tonight

We’ll have another nice Spring day to close out the work week. Highs back in the mid-70’s!

a_am-one.jpg

You’ll notice some clouds coming in this afternoon and the winds picking up. A breezy afternoon with winds out of the south 15-25 miles per hour. Tonight a line of storms should be moving though middle Tennessee. The risk of severe weather is low with this system; we do expect some good rains however.

Saturday will have clouds and a few showers; we won’t really shake the system until Sunday. Then we’ll have some sunshine and highs back in to the 70’s.

Morning Earthquake

A 5.6 earthquake occured in the early morning hours (4:36am) in Illinois near the Indiana border at Vincennes. It was felt by nearly everyone in Tennessee. Lots of rattling but no damage reported. Quite a surprise for everyone- the area where the earthquake happened is at the northern extent of the New Madrid risk area. A earthquake in Indiana occured 99 years ago about 40 miles from the spot today; that was the worst earthquake in the state’s history.

Showers and Storms Friday Night

Friday will be warm and windy and bring plenty of sunshine. BUT by Friday night, Predictor shows a line of shower and storms pushing through.

This system will leave us cooler and quite cloudy on Saturday, but only a few light showers or sprinkles… mainly north of I-40.

More Great Spring Weather

Just a few degrees warmer than yesterday but we are talking shorts weather this afternoon. Highs should reach at least in the mid-70’s for most of us:

a_am-one.jpg

Its been a wet April and all of us of enjoyed this little dry spell (but not the freezes!). The dry weather ends late Friday when some heavy rain potential moves in from the west. This how Predictor shows the line: this could be producing some severe weather during the early evening hours:
