Warm End, Cold Start
We’ll close the year with highs today in the upper 50’s. Sunny start with a breezy afternoon bringing in some clouds. A few sprinkles this evening but a very, very cold shot of air arrives during the morning tomorrow. We’ll start 2008 with one of the coldest days of the winter so far- highs will only be in the mid-30’s and dropping by afternoon. Winds will be very gusty making for some cold wind chills as we’ll have flurries in the air. There might even be a dusting of snow up on the plateau. By Wednesday morning the temperatures will be down in the teens. Burrrr! Highs today below; below that Predictor shows snow going on by tomorrow afternoon to the east of Nashville.

Almost forgot, it’s the last day to vote in the ‘Snow Poll’…So far, ‘flurries’ and ‘only on the Plateau’ are in the lead…

These guys hug predictor. Is that the GFS? or is it some computer program that one of your tech people made? Predictor often times looks nothing like the GFS, and while we know that its not the most accurate thing in the world, its more accurate than most other models, besides maybe the Euro.

Lookin forward to it Mike. I’ll be on later tonight as well.
GFS ensembles giving us a peek another cold pattern developing with a hint at some snow activity as well around Jan 10. For more go to Tennesseewx.com

It looks like the moisture is staying around the Tennessee/Kentucky state line and north. Does this mean no rain this evening or flurries late tonight? Also, where is the moisture for snow showers going to come from tomorrow? Will this be a case of wrap around moisture? I do hope we at least get a dusting of snow here along the edge of the plateau (Walling). Of course, I would love to see a lot more but don’t expect more this time around. I know they have never called for much snow at all with this system, but I just keep hoping that one day we will have a return of some big snows.
on December 31st, 2007 at 3:17 pm
In my opinion,I’m offically calling for only flurries to fly for most of Middle Tennessee and at most a dusting for the plateau. My parents have friends in Irvine,KY and they are under a Snow Advisory and predicting 1-3″ of SNOW! Oh well maybe the next time…..NOT!

9th, I’m home schooled so that’s why I get a lot of time on here. Algebra 2 then check nashvillewx, Literature then check nashvillewx, Latin then check nashvillewx ect… That’s pretty much schedule for the day.
I’ll probably through back some BooKoo energy. Their 24 ounce has about 360 mg. That’ll keep me up all night. Locally that’s the strongest energy drink I know. 16 oz can (240 mg caffeine) and an even smaller 12 oz can (180 mg caffeine). Full throttle has 144 for 16 oz. Monster has 160 mg for 16 oz. Rockstar has about 160 mg for 16 oz. A 20 ounce bottle of Fixx contains 500 milligrams of caffeine. I haven’t really seem that one on the shelves.

Hi all. I am usually the snow-caller, but everytime I think it snows it never does. This time I REALLY think it will NOT snow. Maybe that means it will — but uh….. lol. It’s not going to snow.
HAPPY NEW YEAR btw
on December 31st, 2007 at 4:21 pm
Even on the plateau. It is NOT going to snow.
I’m serious.
on December 31st, 2007 at 4:24 pm
Chris…you may be on to something!
Be sure to vote NO in my poll against the snow (just in case)…
http://cookevilleweatherguy.blogspot.com
on December 31st, 2007 at 4:34 pm
Okay okay fine I’ll vote in your poll. I really don’t see how anything is going to develop on the backside of this system at all, especially considering the dry air — dewpoint of 22 degrees and temp of 50.3 in Cookeville currently
on December 31st, 2007 at 4:36 pm
voted “only rain” in your poll. there will be a period of light rain tonight and actually i would be very suprised if we even get flurries in cookeville — maybe crossville though. there’ve been times i had to just drive up to monterey to see if there was snow, and there would be, even though none in cookeville

SPC says that counties on the plateau ( Clay,Jackson,Putnum,Overton, etc.) have the possiblity to have minor accumulation tommorrow and Tues. Night. Notice one county not in their……MACON COUNTY!!! This happens every time!! Since were on the “Highland Rim” we won’t get as much!!! Sorry for the long post just had to get that out of my system!
on December 31st, 2007 at 4:39 pm
Cookeville is on the Highland Rim. We’re in the middle. East Putnam, the very last slice of it, is the only part ACTUALLY on the plateau.
on December 31st, 2007 at 4:41 pm
Edit button () we’re!!! I’m taking Spanish, as my foreign language, but I may need to stick with English!!
on December 31st, 2007 at 4:48 pm
Chris, any snow would come from a clipper that will drop in behind the cold front and low pressure to the north. Any chance of accumulating snow would be up on the plateau later tomorrow evening into tomorrow night. There is two different systems here.
on December 31st, 2007 at 4:51 pm
I know.
I just think the air is too dry for the other system to impact us at all
on December 31st, 2007 at 4:55 pm
It does look that way. Whereas eastern kentucky looks quite a bit wetter.
on December 31st, 2007 at 5:26 pm
yup — even just over in somerset, the humidity is like double lol
on December 31st, 2007 at 5:36 pm
Up here in South Central Ky things dont look much better… I would love to see some snow and soon! Happy New Year everyone!
on December 31st, 2007 at 7:07 pm

A few flurries and I’m happy. Anything else is a bonus. And if I don’t even get a flurry I go to plan B. So how was every1’s year? Mine was alright.
on December 31st, 2007 at 8:21 pm
LOL your trying to say the system that is falling apart on the radar is going to give us a dusting????
Please not one ounce of that is reaching the ground and nothing for anyone tonight, this is just another blown forcast not by news2 but by the computers they cannot seem to get enough of.
Kill the computer get one right should be your new years slogan for 2008!!!!!!!!!!!
on December 31st, 2007 at 8:28 pm
but yea i agree with jason how are we supposed to get any snow when the system is falling apart and there was nothing to start with?
on December 31st, 2007 at 9:35 pm
The winds are really starting to pick up here in the Boro. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!!!
on December 31st, 2007 at 9:53 pm
most flurries will be tommorrow evening when the cold air is squeezing out the moisture
on December 31st, 2007 at 10:30 pm
Shaq725 that was not what was called for.
Blown is the key word.
on December 31st, 2007 at 10:31 pm
If you look at storm tracker now you will see the system falling apart. I think your computers are not right again.
on January 1st, 2008 at 10:02 am
It is sunny right now in Cookeville…nothing yet!
