We’ll have enough sunshine and warm south wind (gusty at times) to push the temperatures into the mid-70’s. That would qualify as a record high (the mark of 72 was set way back in 1873) for this date. There will also be some sunshine today for the first time in awhile. This remarkable weather won’t last- rain is back in the forecast tomorrow and Wednesday; by this weekend we’ll have a high on Saturday only in the 30’s with some snow possible!

Brief warm weather is good as long as we eventually get some snow. Wow, I am surprised we have gotten model consistency.

It’s getting closer. Wonder how much accumulation we’ll get. Ground will be wet and slightly warm but if we can get a quick change over- maybe.
I dont really see how we can get that much accumulation.. Its going to be 80 today and 50s and 40s.. the next couple days. The ground is going to be super warm. All we need is a miracle I guess.. LOL! But i’m actually getting my hopes up now; hope they dont get blown out like usual winter storms..
ok the 12z Run is on its way and its showing us below the 540 thickness line on the 15th with rain changing to snow
I agree Ryan. We need to have that ground cool off pretty quickly if we want a good accum. I just want to see a good bit of that stuff flying around anything else will be a bonus.
the ground cools off faster than you might think. it takes longer periods of heat to get a warm ground that is a buzz kill for snow. main concern is just getting to 30 or below, 32 is not really a good snow temp. gfs looks promising so unless we just get something that goes out of place, looks good
WOW 12z GFS snowfall Accum map shows 6″ for most of central tennesse and 2-4 for southeast tenn of course i would cut those totals in half due to warm ground temps and wet grounds but due to the drought the ground should cool quickly so a good 3-5 i would say possible in middle tenn and 1-3 here in southeast tenn and nw ga…
Maybe it means we will get snow accumulation but won’t stick much on the roadways. I don’t expect it to cause much travel problems especially on the main roads. So maybe this will be one of those pretty snows to play in and roadways mainly just wet.
incredible! i don’t know how this is gonna happen…i agree with you cedric…i technically shouldn’t be getting my hopes up at all for snow…but 1-2″ sounds good…i can’t remember the last time we had such a good shot of snow before Christmas!!!
Now wait a minute. Are yall kidding me? Don’t get my hopes up high there Cedric for that much snow and NOTHING happen. Have mercy on an old woman that loves snow.
Honestly? Some of you believe 2-5 inches of snow will accumulate with highs above freezing? If anything we’ll get a couple flurries. Come on, doesn’t anyone have a sense of reality?
i dont know what you are referring to wm, temps are projected to max out at 35 on saturday and the cool surge should have us below 32 by afternoon. i would not be as likely to say 5 inches, but 2 is not an unreasonable guess.
Well can already tell things are going to get quite crazy as the week rolls on.
The gefs shows the dominate precip type to be mainly snow. Things are looking awfully interesting. Just a thought but do any of you think ice could be possible on bridges and some back roads come Saturday night if it does get down to 26? My guess is the rain and melted snow could freeze on the road ways later that night and form icy spots. As far as on the grass 2 inches are not out of the question in my opinion.
I don’t know Cameron. Remember when the layers are various temps, sleet and freezing rain are also possible too. Temps are expected to be flirting with 32 for a good deal of the event, so who knows. This has been such an odd year. The leaves are still even on our Bradford pear trees!
Matt, the 7 day show highs this weekend in the upper 30s and lower 40s. I don’t know what you’re referring to.
