Record High on Sunday, Split Temp Forecast Monday Plus Showers & T’Showers

highs-monday-12-9.jpg

Sunday’s 73 degrees shattered a 55 year old record as you can read on my previous entry. We may scare a few more high temperature records later this week (see 7 Day Forecast to the right).

On Monday, a cold front will temporarily enter Middle Tennessee before returning northward as a cold front. As it puts the breaks on in our area, it should create quite a temperature difference from northwest to southeast. It also will be the triggering mechanism for showers and thundershowers.

On Tuesday, that front high tails it northward putting us back into 70s once again.

Just taking a look at the rest of the country, good grief, tons of winter advisories, watches and warnings to our west. I’ve got friends out NM way will have to check up on them. One of the them works at an observatory atop a high mountain.

National Weather Service in Nashville has issued the following statement:

There will be no snow this winter for all of middle Tennessee, including the higher regions of the plateau. In fact, the chance of snow in middle Tennessee ever is 1 percent. If you live in the middle Tennessee area you are advised to sell all sleds and send any and all salt reserves to areas to the north, east, south or west of middle Tennessee, including the state of Florida who will receive greater snow accumulation than that of the middle Tennessee area.
