Oldest Known Picture Of A Tornado
Our special projects producer, Jeff Davidson, ran into this picture from the NOAA Photo Library. It was taken on August 28, 1884 22 miles southwest of Howard, SD. Not only does it show two smaller tornadoes on either side of the main one, you can see a strong updraft right over the top of the larger tornado.
