Sunday Forecast
Warmth continues for the foreseeable future…
Temperatures will climb to the lower 90s today, thanks to a partly cloudy sky. Breezes will be light and from the southeast. Highs should only be in the middle 80s this time of year…but we’ll stay 5 to 10 degrees above that mark for the next 6 days, until next weekend.
I can’t rule out an isolated thundershower this afternoon, but the chance is only around 10%. Predictor suggests that the chance may be a touch higher for areas northwest of Nashville, along a weak surface trough. The next decent rain chance holds off until Friday or Saturday as a cool front approaches. We sure could use it.

Hurricane Felix
At 4:00 am CDT, Hurricane Felix was 400 miles SSE of the Dominican Republic…85 miles ENE of Aruba.
Infrared satellite loop
Felix is moving west at 18 mph.
Maximum sustained winds are 100 mph, with higher gusts.
Felix is a Category 2 hurricane, but may strengthen later today.
The minimum central pressure is 984 millibars (29.06″)

The Storm In Woodbury Drifts West Into The ‘Boro
The thunderstorm we mentioned earlier near Woodbury has indeed made it to Murfreesboro as speculated. It will last around an hour. It’s Labor Day Weekend with lots of folks outside, so be careful. Remember, lightning is a killer.
The storm mentioned earlier around Monterey has backed into the Cookeville area. As mentioned earlier, the storms are moving to the west at around 10 mph. The reason for the westward movement is an upper low to our south. The counterclockwise flow puts us in a general easterly flow, pushing the storms westward.
Few T’Showers South & East of Nashville This Saturday Afternoon
Stormtracker above as of 4:30pm shows some scattered shower and t’storm activity around Shelbyville and Bell Buckle, as well as Woodbury, Monterey, and McMinnville (Manchester earlier). The showers are drifting west at 10 mph. The t’storm near Woodbury may affect the Murfreesboro area if it holds together for another 60-90 minutes.
Temperatures have been in the upper 80s to low 90s with Nashville running 91 at 3 and 4pm.
On Sunday, we’ll see partly cloudy and warm conditions with highs in the low 90s. I think there will be some isolated to scattered showers or t’storms, with chances running around 20%. The better chances will be in the southern half of Middle Tennessee.
Saturday Forecast
Another 90 degree day is on tap, but sunshine and a steady breeze from the northeast will make for a pleasant afternoon.
There’s a slim chance of a thundershower for the southeast corner of the mid-state: McMinnville, Manchester, Winchester and points in between may get lucky and pick up a quick soaking.
Temperatures will stay near 90 degrees through the Labor Day Weekend; so will the mainly dry conditions.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the start of the college football season!
