Wet Morning Update

The wet weather continues across Middle Tennessee as we approach 10:00 am. The clearing has already begun in the northwest corner of the mid-state (Clarksville, Waverly, Paris, Camden, Erin, Stewart) but it will take a while longer to reach Nashville. As I mentioned this morning on News 2 Weekend, the southeast corner of Middle Tennessee will contend with the wet weather longest, through the afternoon down around McMinnville, Manchester, Tullahoma, Fayetteville and Winchester.

Glad to see Dickson’s temperature is now in the middle 30s. They reported rain while at 32 degrees this morning; Dickson was the only location to flirt with freezing as the precipitation moved in this morning. No icy problems anticipated on area roads but there’s plenty of rain and that’s usually enough trouble.

If you look closely at the seven day forecast you’ll spot some flurries Monday night into Tuesday; that’s mainly for the northern Cumberland Plateau. Our next opportunity for snow could arrive on Thursday as an upper trough reinforces the already-cold air across the Mid-South.

Have a great day!

  2. aaronin davidson says:

quite a bit of sleet and rain outside on the ground but the rain-line is now past my area according to stormtracker so i think i’m done with the activity. and maybe more snow chances by thursday and this one looks like it may bring 4-5 inches i’ll keep yall informed.

  3. Clay says:

I am going to disagree. More like .4 - .5 inches.

  4. Sharon says:

$1 degrees and cold rain on the AL/TN state line, although at about 4 this morning, it rose to 45 degrees.

  5. Aaron, my boy…..you may ‘think’ that we’ll see 4 or 5 inches, but you’d be the only one. I think you’re dreaming!

Up here on the plateau, we’ve had all rain since early this morning. I’ve got .55 inches in the bucket (since it started around 2 am) and it’s raining moderately here at 11:15 am…the wind is from the South-Southeast..temperatures have hovered right around 40 since midnight…..we’re currently at 39.1….

Focusing on the next couple of days, I agree with the precip lingering into Monday evening and we’ll keep a watch out for a few flurries…

Beyond that, our next decent chance for precip (not going to fathom a guess) comes again for Wednesday into Thursday morning.

    Have a great day…

  6. Sharon says:

And take that dollar sign and make it a four!

  7. aaron in davidson says:

btw, is accuweather a good source for extended forecasts…because they are predicting some pretty cold nights next week and the week after. but i’m not believin anything ’til the time draws closer…

  12. Clay says:

    Ok, try it now!

Go under long range guesses. Tell me what you think.

  14. aaron in davidson says:

we got quite a bit of sleet here in lakewood even some light snow mixed in but now we just have some wet roads which could cause problems tonight in some areas that reach freezing. i’ll keep yall updated.

Are they still calling for flurries monday night? According to the seven day it looks like they give monday and wednesday night the same snow chances…

  20. Teran says:

You know what, I don’t think we are going to get any measureable snow this year with El~Nino.

  21. matt says:

don’t worry guys. we will get some snow this year. im thinking that we could get some snow in the first part of febuary that would maybe amount to 3-4 inches. of course that’s just a prediction.
