Scroll down or click here to read Jeff’s morning forecast entry. Temperatures bottomed out in the single digits and lower teens around sunrise; typically our coldest time of the day. The sky is clear this morning and winds are generally light. Any breeze early today sent wind chills down toward zero degrees. Here’s a roundup of the unofficial low temperatures…

Justin,
Thanks for the help on the science fair. I Mentioned what you said too during my speech. Oh by the way I got 1st place and there offering me to go to state.
The temperature dropped to 6 degrees on my way to Crossville this morning. Can someone say cold???? How certain do you guys feel on our significant snow chances this week?
Check out the CPC Map

4 plus inch’s possible ok just 10% but hey LOL
I’ll believe it when I walk outside and step in something that cools my heels.
Me too LOL
Yeah about 5am this morning, it was down to 6 degrees here in Coble TN also. But I feel like something is going to happen with this storm.. Looks quite nice.
I so hope you are right. It would be nice to have a long weekend.
Glad to hear about the science fair success Cameron - congrats!
Justin…PLEASE updat snow chances….lol we are all dying. I am thinking a nice 1-3 inch snow and maybe a 2-4 inch snow in southern towns like…columbia, linded…hohenwald etc. It looks like the slightly heavier moisture will be in southern middle tennessee. An if it starts on wed. night and accumulates the temps. the next day wont rise much at all.
LOL as usual TWC has us at 45 degrees thursday….lol they are terrible
Nope.
: )
Not until I watch a few more model runs and can gain some confidence in the path of the surface low pressure. That will be the determining factor for snowfall potential. I’ll post an update later this morning with my general thoughts on the situation before the comments can get out of hand!
well predictor showed a nice swath of snow from beginning in north alabama…yay! please SNOW!
That’s right Justin, play it safe. I will try to be patient.
Ah ha….. Thats a good one justin…play it safe. lol. however i have seen a few runs this morning with moisture in tennessee and the 540 down in north alabama.
The latest models aren’t being kind to us… they want to bring in warmer air. Hopefully, that trend reverses. But, you know how that goes.
BTW, this wasn’t quite the coldest morning so far this season for some places (including my house). I had a low of 13.1.
But, back on December 8, I had a low of 12.0.
Still plenty cold… BRR.
Way to go on the science fair Cameron K. !!!!!
Let me guess your project was on weather?
Congrats - see you Friday.
I have always heard that it will snow if the temps are falling and the barometer is rising. Is this true or how does it work.
If the temps are falling and the barometer is rising, cold high pressure would be moving toward the area. That’s important for reinforcing the cold air down at the surface, which is important for snow…but it’s only one ingredient for a winter storm. The one truth about forecasting is that are no hard guarantees like the one you described. The atmosphere is a complicated place and there are always minor details that can change the outcome of a forecast. Great question Jennifer!
