Temperatures are climbing quickly this morning - enjoy it while it lasts!
A few comments have asked why we’re out on a limb with all of the cold weather this week. James Spann and the alabamawx.com crew are going through a similar experience down in Birmingham.
The model output statistics are horrible, and you simply can’t trust them. I know many other sources are forecasting highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s for the next seven days, but I completely disagree, and don’t understand how anyone can come up with that conclusion. Remember, most of those folks were forecasting highs in the 50s tomorrow, just a few days ago. Walk outside tomorrow and see if you can find 50s anywhere. As I have said many times, I am here to tell you what I think will happen… I am not here to make any one group of people happy, and I am not here to agree with a forecast from anyone else.

yes i would say that would be a possibility this time. and have yall noticed i have been right about that gulf moisture moving in this could be a snowy night.

.NOW…
PATCHES OF LIGHT RAIN AND DRIZZLE WERE MOVING THROUGH THE MID STATE.
WHERE PRECIPITATION DOES OCCUR RAINFALL RATES WILL BE LESS THAN FIVE
HUNDREDTH OF AN INCH PER HOUR. THE COLD FRONT HAS ENTERED THE
MID STATE AND WAS LOCATED ALONG A NORTHEAST…SOUTHWEST AXIS RUNNING
THROUGH NASHVILLE. COOLER TEMPERATURES AND STRONGER NORTHWEST WINDS
WERE LOCATED BEHIND THE FRONT AS TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE MID
50S IN NASHVILLE WITH NEAR 40 DEGREES READINGS IN THE EXTREME
NORTHWESTERN COUNTY.
Two problems arise:
1) Overrunning + shallow cold air = sleet or freezing rain, THEN snow.
2) The dewpoints are so low behind the front that all of the moisture headed north evaporates.
I hope you’re right, though.
it was from the nws i think they would be pretty right. let’s listen to davis at 5 for a weather forecast.
that weather statement says nothing bout snow tonight!
It’s a short term forecast…NOT a hazardous weather outlook or a special weather statement. Please go to http://www.srh.noaa.gov/bna for more details.
The NWS and other stations have high temps in the 40s for most of all next week. what do ya’ll think about this?
You guys kill me. Ill say this one more time for the thick headed out there. IT IS NOT GOING TO SNOW TONIGHT>>>>>>>>>> GET THREW TO THAT PEA SIZE BRAIN. I will be suprised if it ever rains any.
it is GOING to snow but not till around 12am-9am tomorrow morning so thats when the brunt of it will be here.
i’m impressed at davis’s new 7 day forecast which calls for another shot of snow monday night.
sry last post was me.
No snow tonight…All snow has been taken out of the forecast…we had five thousand opportunities and they’re all gone..
oh well, bring on Spring!!
At least there is a chance of a few flurries.
OK… LOOK AT THE RADAR FOR THE SOUTHEAST BELOW THE METEOROLOGISTS IT SHOWS ALL THAT RAIN TO THE SOUTH MOVING OUR WAY SO LIKE I SAID MORE THAN FLURRIES IT WIL BE LIGHT SNOW. SOME ACCUMULATION STILL POSSIBLE AROUND 1″ MAINLY SLUSH.
Jason is partially correct on this one…it will not snow much…nor will it rain much. Reason: No deep moisture. We will squeeze out some flurries, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see some bursts tomorrow due to the lapsing and the difference in temperature JUST BETWEEN the surface and 850 mb height.
