Cold Again Thursday

The glimpses of sunshine warmed us into the mid and upper 40’s on Wednesday but we won’t be so fortunate on Thursday. A weak but quick impulse passing by to our north may trigger a couple of flurries in northern counties of middle Tennessee early Thursday… one of those look fast or you might miss it scenarios. The sun is back out by midday through the afternoon but doesn’t warm us up much… upper 30’s to near 40 degrees. Those temps and a wind from the northwest at 10-15 will have you diggin’ for your gloves and ear muffs! Teens Thursday night into Friday morning may have you searching for your long johns!!

As of now, the weekend system doesn’t bring enough moisture our way for a “good” snow but some light snow showers are certainly possible. Let’s see what the models do with this Thursday afternoon… that gets us closer to 3 days out which makes me much more comfortable with a forecast.

I guess I certainly understanidng wanting to wait on a snow forecast. They can be beyond tricky around these parts. Good job Lisa! Lisa is right…Lisa’s always right…

GFS Analysis is out for 1/25/07. Click my name to go to it. You then click “Winters Feature Presentation”. Lisa tell me how I did.

The link that Cameron provided to the looping GFS is cool… can I ask a question? Is the blue line the freezing line and is there a way to tell the date? (I know that was two questions, sorry)
His link is on the previous blog…

  4. JAson says:

It is still going to snow Wed night

  5. Cameron K. says:

Here’s that link again, if it cuts off the last part of the link where it says loop.shtml then just fix it to where it says the whole link.

Cameron - very cool link thanks for sharing it. Can you help with the questions I had above?

  7. Cameron K. says:

Jo, I can’t say for sure. Listen to James spann he gives a good forecast. I know he talks about Alabama weather, but he mentions the states around it and some of there weather too. The website is Alabamawx.com

Or see if one of the mets will answer it.

  8. Eric says:

Is it me or did the GFS run Clay put up not have the big storm in the Feb 1-2 timeframe? May have just been me…

  9. Clay says:

    On wunderground it does.

  10. Clay says:

Hows this for a snowstorm. It’s not on the deepest part of the model either. click name

  11. Clay says:

Now, that’s what you call “room service”!

  12. Cameron K. says:

I know Clay that has winter snow storm written all over it, but it’s 8-9 days out. lets hope we get a good one out of this.

  13. Clay says:

Cameron, I agree and yet, I disagree. While, yes, that may not be the exact storm or track, you have to remember that the GFS is basically a trend setter. An example would be, when you get out of the shower and you look in a fogged up mirror. You can kind of see yourself, but you can’t make out the details.(freckles, blemishes). I also think that it will be so cold that any kind of low that comes out of the Gulf may indeed, have “Winter Storm” written all over it. I probably just told you stuff you already know, by the way. I guarantee you, I promise, I am not exaggerating, when I say that over these next few weeks we have a decent shot a winter wx. You can read more about our chances @ the TN WX Zone
