Thanks to everyone for visiting the blog today - traffic is sky high. The late morning models have come in and we don’t see any reason to change our general thinking about tonight and tomorrow’s forecast.
At midday, the radar looks very snowy in Arkansas but it’s always smart to check that with the observed conditions at the ground. There’s plenty of dry air at the surface so some/much of the leading edge moisture is evaporating before it reaches the ground. If snow is reported you’ll see an asterisk (*) to the left of the temperature.

As far as changing your thinking about any aspects of the forecast, does it mean anything that it’s 25 at 12:30 and you guys are forecastig a high of 35? We got about 4 1/2 hours of sunlight left and I have a hard time seeing us getting above 32, unless this system is bringing in warmer air? Is this a legit concern? Would this affect the forecast? Do you know where I left my car keys?
I don’t see us getting over the freezing mark. The moisture seems to be moving a little faster. We may see a 10-11Pm start snowing and give us alot more snow.
Tracy: Why are you asking Justin for your car keys?
I think the general idea is that the warm gulf air, bringing the moisture, will help to rais our temps.
Not sure if all of that still comes into play or not. I am sure though that no one is sure.
Ok, It seems all to recent that we were banking on some snow and then it totally missed Nashville. My prediction is the bell shape forecast…Snow in Dickson, Clarksville, Lebanon….Not in Nashville. I hope I’m wrong
we need this snow to happen. I don’t see any other chances next week. And after that it will be Mid February!
If the moisture supply is going to be limited, then why such a rise in temps. It seems to me that the more moisture you get, the more the temps will rise. Given that we are way below temps now, will it not take a substantial increase in moisture to get the temps up to where they are predicting? And if so, then the amount of forcasted precip should also need to be increased?
Justin..Any reason why we arent under an advisory or watch. The weather channel is giving 1-2 inches tonight and 2-4 tomorrow for the Cookeville area, and yet still no watch?
Your car keys are under your coat. Snow, sleet, bring it on! My husband has to justify the cost of his 4-wheel drive truck….
Thanks for putting the live-feed online. This rules!
Oh the weatheroracle returns and kinds sir what is this bell shape you speak of….maybe you should depict this on a whiteboard so we all follow along.
Okay… this is the deal.. We all want snow.. and we want it now.. and if we don’t get it, well then I have to say that life is just not worth living!! I’m sorry, but if doesn’t snow tonight and tomorrow, well, I think it’s all Justins fault!!
I see Metro has already salted the streets — that’s probably going to jinx us!
Isn’t this interesting. Even if these radar echoes are not reaching the ground, this will saturate the air allowing for the snow to start sooner? Hmmm….
