Accumulating Snow Overnight…Change To Mix During Day Thursday

Snow Forecast.JPG

Justin and I can’t help ourselves updating from home. Excuse my crude map above, but it shows what you can do with that little paint program that comes with your computer.

Lisa Patton will be updating this information on News 2 at 4, 4:40, 5, & 6pm and some of those figures may change.

We expect the precip to arrive tonight. Models have it just after midnight, but it could start a little sooner. Keep in mind that some of the snow already being seen on radar is not reaching the ground.
Nashville is right on the line between 1/2-1″ and 1-2″. During the day, the precip in Nashville will change to a mix of snow and rain and then to rain. Our southern counties generally from Columbia southward will see a snow/sleet mixture at first, changing to rain after sunrise.

As usual, some of our eastern higher elevations could see the highest amounts.

On Thursday night and Friday the precip should end as snow showers and flurries.

I guess being born and raised here these little weather events excite me. It either does nothing, or we get 5 inches..lol I live in Columbia and a few years ago we got 10 inches and no one else did. It was cool!! Maury county schools is already closed for the rest of the week due to the flu. They would have been out anyway, saved us parents from having to chase down school closings.

I am concerned about the temps. We are gauged from CSCC and it hasn’t gotton out of the 20’s all day despite the 4 o’clock report on 2 said it was 32. This is all going to depend on where you are :)

  3. Gabe says:

hey bamagirl…are you a Bama fan like I am?

  4. Verbatim says:

What are the possibilities of the snow/rain…whatever falls on the ground Thursday night freezing and causing some problems? Because I’ve noticed the low for Thurs. night around 30 ~ 32 degrees…

  5. bamagirl says:

We have the same Advisory south of Nashville, but until 4:15am…

  8. mark says:

is it me or do i see snow and lots of it on radar? plus they said the temp would be 37 to 39 and now its only 31…didnt get high today! will the snow get here earlier than thought? I have yto work tonight at 11pm but need to go into work early if it gets bad out …..is everyone happy its going to snow?

  9. Keith says:

    The forecast is wrong.

Like I said before, I still think 3-4″ will occur. It’s coming in earlier than they expected, and it did not get as warm as they thought.

  10. Keith says:

Anyone who is getting snow right now, please state your location.

  11. Gabe says:

Its coming in earlier however….only the western edge of that snow on the radar is reaching the ground.

But yes…everybody thought it would be tomorrow morning before it would get here. But It will be by the TN river around 10 or 11 tonight.

  12. Santa says:

It is COMING DOWN here at the north pole…got a few feet on the ground already, and doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon!

    geez…what am I, twelve?!

    ha ha

  13. Alex says:

For what it is worth Ripley TN has been reporting snow for sometime now. That is near the TN river. And the NWS short term forecast says 1-2 inches by 8 pm for that area.

  14. Jason says:

    Becki WOW im touched HA!

  15. Jammer says:

I have relatives in Trenton, TN (Just N. of Jackson). Been snowing since 4:00opm and already 1.5″ on the ground!
