Predictor says…

This should get those tongues a wagging:
tuesampred.jpg
This particular modeling is based on the WRF.
Note: My experience is that many models tend to overdo accumulation expectations.

Indeed, it does look as if the bulk of the moisture will slide by south and east of Nashville which points to heavy accumulation possibilities for the southern Plateau and areas adjacent.
Amounts may be much lighter here in the Nashville area but a little goes a long way.

Temperatures are expected to warm above freezing (with the exception of the northern and western sections of middle Tennessee) and suggest a changeover to all rain by Thursday afternoon. We’ll see!

In the meantime, bundle up or stay in tonight… Lows between 9 and 16 degrees!

so i live 25 miles south and east of nashville (i’m schoolin in mobile) and i don’t have class thursday…and i can afford to miss friday…does anyone think i should come back for this snow event? i’m kinda runnin’ on luck since i’ll be drivin’ 6 hours for snow…but it will be sooo worth it if this snow situation pans out… what do you all think? would you drive bak if u were me?

  2. Verbatim says:

Oh my gosh…I hope this comes true…

According to this shot I’m right on about the 4″ mark…

  3. HOLY COW!

    ~Hold onto your hats! It’s showtime!~

  4. Lisa P. says:

***Caution*** I am not saying this is a “given” but it is a possibility. It is very difficult to pinpoint totals even a day and a half out. That said… the moisture should be there…
We’re getting closer now so we will have more frequent updates.

  5. JOhn says:

The NWS and others are showing more snow north of the magic 1-40 line. KRN is showing basically the opposite. Has something really changed in the past couple of hours??

  6. Verbatim says:

Hey Lisa, by you observations do you think it will turn into completely rain by Thurs. afternoon and does it look like there will be enough moisture left for it to turn back to snow Thurs night if that does occur? Also, if temps hit freezing like NWS is showing then couldn’t that lead to travel hazards again Fri. morning?

    Thanks

  7. *****LOL@Lisa******

Lisa, my dear, you have given us ’snow-starved’ Tennesseans a map with a ‘potential’ of snow!

I promise to be happy with you whether we get ZERO in Cookeville or 7.5 inches!!!

You all are the best at News 2 for having this forum….I hope the many good people more than makeup for some of the ‘difficult’ folks!

I’m hoping we get lucky and get one of those suprise 3 or 4 inch snows. How is the GFS models looking?

  9. Jeremy in E Cannon CO says:

HA! Now thats what I am talking about! Just move it a little farther west..Rain? Rain? We dont neen no stinking rain!

  10. HAHAH With that map, I shall crawl back in my I WISH I HAD SOME SNOW HOLE.. Hickman County is painted with ummmmm NADA! That map is crazy.. but anyways if that map is true I guess I will travel 150 miles to see snow then.. :()

  11. Carl says:

    Lisa,

Are you saying that is the total accumalations together or just by 9:30 Thursday morning. My understanding was the entire state would see snow. Even Western and central KY is forecasted to receive 1-3″…has somethign changed that keeps all the precip east of Nashville? Will the other parts of TN and KY be dry??

  12. Chris says:

Ummm, what in the world is going on?

Please implement login or start moderating posts. Its becoming impossible in the last few posts to even read with this idiot who is copy/pasting posts. Not only should this person be banned from this site, they should be banned from using computers period.

    grow up.

  16. Cameron K. says:

    What’s with those posts above?

Lisa, could you please post a new topic?

  17. CW says:

::sigh:: My two counties (the ones I live and work in) are both a lovely, bright GREEN. I hope this is wrong. It pains me to see the snow making a nice circle around me. Is a good icing still a possibility, even if there’s no snow, per se? And what happened to the whole “north of I-40″ scenario?

  18. nothing will happen says:

OFCOURSE NASHVILLE IS IN THE O INCH SNOWFALL ESTIMATE LIKE THE USUAL IT WILL SNOW FOR ALL YALL LUCKY BASTARDS ON THE PLATUEA AND WEST OF NASHVILLE BUT IN DONELSON WELL SEE A FRIGGEN FLAKE FALL AND THEN POUR DOWN 23333221312 INCHES OF RAIN SO YEA IT WILL RATHER SNOW IN JAMAICA THAN DONELSON COUNTY

  19. Lucas says:

Lisa said that this maps was really going out on a limb anyway. So, Nashville and the other areas that don’t show snow on this map could still see snow. Nothings in writing until its already happened.

  20. Shawn says:

Whats up with the copying and pasting of whole threads in new threads? Is someone doing that on purpose or is it a glitch? Surely it isnt the same troll who has been using profanity on here.

How does the winter precip look for Franklin, TN?

This place has gone NUTS. Webmasters, e-mail me when you have implemented the login thingy.

I moderate a forum and have a blog so I do have an understanding of IP numbers and blogging platforms. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to keep these morons from ruining this for the people who truly enjoy reading about and discussing the weather in middle Tennessee. I’m not suggesting for a second that the mets have time to babysit this blog but I don’t understand why the nonproductive comments posted by complete morons aren’t being deleted by SOMEONE. It can’t be that difficult. I don’t mean to be rude but this is extremely frustrating.

  23. Carl says:

I am all for a login…I would say though that the foreign language thing was kinda funny…

Anyhow…latest 0z NAM (in my opinion) keeps BNA frozen throughout the entire event.

It came in just a tad cooler…but a tad is all we need. If they were saying at 6pm that the NW counties would stay all frozen, and the 0z NAM is a tad cooler…that would keep us all frozen…also…Memphis (last I checked form the Memphis NWS website) was just about to bite that they would be staying all frozen. I don’t want this thing to go TOO further south…we may not get anything.

I think it will snow tomorrow night after midnight.

  26. Jennifer says:

That map scares me, I am north of Nashville in Joelton. Will it snow where I am?

  27. Clay says:

I don’t like the map at all. I think places like Paris, Dyersburg and even Nashville could see 1-2 inches of snow. To see my Revised snowfall map, click my name. By the way, I live in South Nashville and they already salted Harding Place, Granny White Pike and Hillsboro Road.

  28. Clay says:

That’s the most random post you will ever see. LOL

I agree, I think news 2 should make this a forum type deal where they could ban people if they needed to. This one person is just ruining it for everyone.

And to the person who is doing this. Isn’t it time for mama to tuck you in for bed?

  32. weatherdawg says:
