Cold Air Moves In

Temperatures have dropped to near freezing west of Nashville as of 10pm. We will probably stay above freezing until 3 or 4am in town. Patches of drizzle may change to brief snow flurries here and there but should not be enough for accumulation.
You must remember that surface temps have been at or near 70 degrees for the past 4 days… the ground is very warm. While we could see some black ice on a bridge or overpass if we get a good round of drizzle or flurries, I do not expect that to be a widespread problem. It would be most likely north and west of Nashville. The wind will continue at 10-15mph all night which will continue the drying process.
Do drive slowly and carefully on any road which remains wet. We had a plethora of accidents in the rain today… slow down!

  6. Sharon says:

HUN is hinting that dense fog may form on the mountains after cold air rushs in. Any of those bridges or overpasses over wet run off areas could be spots for black ice. Looks like early wake up to make sure. Sewanne Mt. is good about making black ice.

I hate, stupid, plateau snow hogs.

  8. Keith says:

I think if it continues as is, counties bordering the Alabama border could get some snow. Doubt it will accumulate, but it would be nice to see.

This could also raise the chance of being out of school.

Intellicast’s surface analysis as of 11pm central has the front stationary over the eastern plateau. Might that be acting as a funnel for some of the moisture over TX? Sure looks like it.. Click below for a visual.
