We started this morning with lows in the upper 40’s. Early sunshine and this dry air will warm quickly to around 70 by afternoon. A few clouds around but another night today in the upper 40’s. Tomorrow the winds start to pick up from the south; the high will reach into the upper 70’s with more clouds. By Friday rain in the forecast as a cold front slow moves towards us over the weekend; it probably won’t get here until Sunday. That means rain in the forecast Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On the other side of this cold front even colder temperatures; we might get overnight lows in the northwest down into the upper 30’s by the start of next work week. Below are today’s forecasted highs.

2nd Push of Cooler Air Pushing In Overnight

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

2nd Push 1.jpg

Break out the jackets and sweaters Wednesday morning as a second push of cooler air will push in overnight. Temperatures all day on Tuesday were a good 6-10 degrees cooler in Missouri and extreme West Kentucky. That second push will yield about 49 in the city, with mid 40s common in the outlying areas. On Wednesday, highs will struggle to reach 70 degrees.

Wonderful Fall Like Weather And A Great Visit To Paragon Mills Elementary School

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

This morning’s lows dropped into the 50s. We’ve seen that already. Tonight, we expect 40 degree weather across most of Middle Tennessee. The concrete and asphalt of Nashville might stop the temperature at 48-50 in the city, but mid 40s will be most likely outside of the city. Fall officially starts Friday night at 11:02pm CDT see: Autumnal Equinox
(subtract 5 hours from UTC for CDT).

Daytime highs on Wednesday should rebound into the comfortable low 70s after the chilly start.

On another note, I had a great visit to the first grade classes at Paragon Mills Elementary. They have been studying weather in class recently, and even had several “weather songs” that they sang to me! Thanks to Teresa Davis and all of the 1st grade teachers at Paragon Mills Elementary.

Fall Arrives a Few Days Early

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

The cold front that passed through yesterday late (at the close of the afternoon yesterday it was in the mid 60’s in Clarksville while still 80 degrees in Nashville only 40 miles away) cold air continues to filter in. Fog to the west where the skies have been clear most of the night; clouds still over the plateau this morning. Everyone will enjoy mostly sunny skies by this afternoon with highs only in the low 70’s. Very nice! Be ready for tonight as the lows drop down into the upper 40’s for the first time since last Spring. You might want to check the heating system in the house; it’ll be in the 40’s for Thursday morning as well. Below are the forecasted highs for our area today.

Rain Moving In

Monday, September 18th, 2006

Headlines

A cold front sweeps through tonight to change us over to some Fall weather. Today the high will reach around 80 degrees before the rain sets in this afternoon (there is some morning rain around but the real soaking will come this afternoon and early evening). As the cold front sweeps the rain to the east tonight colder, drier air will usher in some Fall weather for tomorrow. Tuesday we’ll enjoy partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 70’s; by tomorrow night the lows will get down into the upper 40’s. I’m expecting some of the coldest readings we’ve seen late May as the season is starting to change over to that cooler September weather. Below are today’s forecasted highs.
