Early Morning Update

The line of thunderstorms stretched to Nashville’s north is slowly sagging southward. At 3:36 am, Clarksville and Erin are on the leading edge of the heavy rain and gusty wind. As we head toward daybreak, I think thunderstorms will remain along and north of I-40. The northwest corner of Middle Tennessee will continue to see the most active weather. A tornado watch continues until 9:00 am this morning, so we’ll monitor the storms closely for any signs of rotation. I think the main problems will be gusty wind on the leading edge of the storms as well as heavy rain due to the slow movement. Some areas in southern Kentucky will contend with flooding due to several inches of rain over the past 24 hours.

Looks like it’s moving south. I’m on the west side of Davidson, looks like it’ll be hitting pretty soon….

How long do you think this part of the line will take to reach Rutherford County? And is that storm in Clarksville trying to move southeast now?

hope it doesn’t intensify anymore for anyone else this storm is coming at. Right now it’s nice rain for the time being with a little thunder and lightening in Clarksville.

The line from Clarksville to Erin to Waverly is pushing southeast, but weakening in intensity just a little bit as it does so. Places like Springfield, Ashland City, Charlotte and Dickson will see heavy rain and lightning and gusty wind in the next hour or so. The storm would be several hours away from M’boro, if the line held together and made it that far. The NWS just issued a tornado warning for Montgomery County, looks Doppler-indicated but I’m watching it closely and we’re crawling info on the bottom of the tv screen on News 2.

They still look like pretty good storms, but they do look to have weakened somewhat. around midnight they were pretty mean looking! except for the tornado warning in Montgomery county, it just looks like a lot of heavy rain, some wind and lightning. hopefully they will weaken!

Still looks rough around Robertson County, especially south of Springfield. The rotation seems to have diminished, but there’s still a tornado warning in effect there for the next couple of minutes.

Does it look like the storms are going to come on down into the southern counties in the later a.m.? What is the forecast for Middle Tenn. on Saturday? Are we going to have the violent weather they have been having to our west?

Clarksville P.D. reports “storm damage” in the Oak Grove subdivision….”possible” tornado.
