Upper 90’s again today, we didn’t hit the upper 90’s yesterday in Nashville thanks to some afternoon rain. Still, very muggy conditions continue today with a heat index topping out around 105. Isolated storms pop up again in the heat of the day; they will be moving slowly to the south bringing heavy rain but not lasting very long. At about 18,000ft (the 500mb level) the air is about as dry as I’ve seen this summer; while the dewpoint depression ( the span between the dewpoint temperature and the air temperature) at the surface this morning is only about 4 degrees; at 500mb its about 42 degrees. This means any storms won’t last very long as the dry air wicks up the moisture. Below are the daytime highs; again depending on how much sunshine you get from 1pm to 4pm will determine if you high reaches the mid-90’s or the upper 90’s.

*plugs ears, closes eyes* I’ll just retire to my Happy Place….”TECHNICALLY” it’ll start August 14th in Rutherford Co., but climatologically speaking…about late-Sept. to Mid-October-ish….
Ummmm…..Tropical Storm Chris, anyone???
