Some Storms Could Be StrongThis Afternoon

pmstorms.jpg

As a cold front approaches today and tonight, storms should break out quite readily. Some of these storms may prompt a few severe t’storm warnings this afternoon. We’ll be watching them for you closely on News 2 Stormtracker.

This front should push through on Tuesday by the afternoon hours, ushering in some cooler temperatures. Indications are that we may see some clouds and a few showers persist behind that front later this week (especially the east half of Middle Tennessee), as the upper level trough that brought the front down “cuts off” over the area. Either way, it’s no more 90’s for awhile.

It is already 91 now. Very ridiculous and it is not the first time that I was heard it was going to rain while the fact is not. I even begin doubtting that there will be no rain before 5pm

    Liang,

We are still going to have hot weather today and there will be a few storms but per Davis, the Cold Front won’t push through until Tomorrow.

If y’all (in my best British accent), look at the radar you would see a line of storms heading into Middle Tennessee from the West and the heat of the afternoon wil just fire these up a little more, so I think you will see your rain this afternoon Liang. As for theweatheroracle once again piggy backs somebody elses forecast.

Seems like you are the one who set the tone for the responses posted. Perhaps you reap what you sow?

Although we are normally a very harmless group, we do tend to stick up for the mets here when they come under fire from people who wont even post their name.

    Lisa,
How bad are these storms to our West? I know to our North they issued a Tornado Watch. Do you think we will deal with anything that serious around here?

I was just surfing the wkrn blog sites and came across a new one:

    I’m ticked of 2

When you click on the link to post a comment there, it has a little icon where you can upload a photo to your comment. HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE HERE ON THE WEATHER BLOG? Would it be asking too much?

  19. David F. in Murfreesboro says:

    Lisa,
Is there a gust front or outflow boundry developing ahead of the line of storms moving our way? I just looked at the latest NWS radar and it looks like something is developing there. Thanks.

I think we need a good rain to cool us off! Im welcome it and the storms (as long as NO tornadoes are involved). I feel we will have a fantastic break from all these heat in the 2nd-3rd week of September. Why do I say that? Because EVERY year it NEVER fails! The week of our county fair (Warren Co.), it rains and gets so chilly at night and cool during the day. It hasnt let up down yet. So keep your heads up about this heat, it will soon be ending
