Two out of three of the primary models we use for 1-2 day forecasts keep rain in the forecast for all day Saturday.
However, all three of them show the tropical upper air disturbance moving farther southeastward as the day wears on. That seems out of phase. My hunch is that most of the rain for Nashville will be this afternoon, tonight and early Saturday morning (with the upper air disturbance). After the early morning hours, most of the shower activity will push south and east of Nashville. We will probably see sunshine with only isolated storm chances the rest of the day. Southern and eastern counties may still see higher rain chances persist into the afternoon. So, there’s my hunch!
On Sunday, skies will be partly cloudy with a few “hit or miss” t’storms and warmer temperatures in the low 90s.
As for this afternoon, rush hour in Nashville will be wet. To repeat what I said before:
Since it is Friday, the commute home might become frustrating. But just keep thinking that it’s Friday, relax, and be safe on the way home!

I have a question for anyone who might want to chime in on the subject. I just finished reading a book called “The Coming Global Superstorm” ( is that how you write titles ?? wow my english has really slacked) I don’t know if anyone has read this, but it is a book about global warming and the superstorms that it “could” create. Has anyone studied this subject that might be able to give me some insight as to whether this idea is completely crazy or not? It kind of freaked me out!
Very true. This warming trend we have will cause more super storms to form. Just look at what hit tennessee early this year, I donot think things will get better any time soon.
Haven’t heard of that book but have heard off all the possible worst case scenios we may see or the possible mini ice age that could come back. I perfer to watch the cycles of the sun. Fact, that the last little ice age came during a time of little to none sunspots and increase volcano activity on the earth.
I have finish reading a book called “The Storm”. It’s a new book out about how the Katrina disaster played out by people who were there trying to get the word out and get everyone on the “same page” to work together.
Lastly, down here in Franklin county we had one impressive storm and a missed photo opp for me. Saw some classic looking wall cloud structure with in flow and then the bottom fell out. Heavy rain and winds, knocked down being able to see where you were going on highway. Est. 1 to 2 inches feel in some spots down here. We’re dry and some farmers have lost their corn crops already.
You know,
I am feeling generous tonight. I have the name of a website that has a lot of models and basically everything you need to look at the weather. I bet the News 2 Mets may use this, I learned of it in the Spotter Class I took a few weeks ago. It is really cool. If you want to know, it will be in the URL thingy. It is really cool, but it takes some work to get the hang of. That is how I found that gust front 20 mins before anyone else saw it last week during those storms.
Justin, I am going to go with your hunch and plan a nice cook-out tommorow evening instead of cooking hamburgers with the electic grill.
