One of These Things is Not Like the Other…

Examine the 2:00 pm weather observations for Middle Tennessee. As the old Sesame Street song goes: “One of these things is not like the other, One of these things just doesn’t belong…” I’ve placed Livingston and Crossville on the bottom of the list due to their heightened elevation; that may or may not have anything to do with it. Do you know what I’m talking about?

Post your thoughts in the comments and I’ll update this entry with the right answer later in the afternoon.

If Smyrna has the highest NW breeze at 13 MPH, then why do they have the HIGHEST TEMP at 94?

My little Predictor temp is showing 94 too…

    Oh, to switch with Crossville…

That’s probably not it….but hey, I just play the game….

  2. Eric says:

Being from Smyrna, I can probably answer your question. The temperature is read at the airport, so it is possibly picking up heat off the tarmac there. I know one day last week when every body was at 94-95 degrees, Smyrna was at 101.

I was there last year for the air show in May…AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY SWELTERING!!!

I want to switch temps with Crossville….

Of course, Clarksville is the ONLY one with a westerly breeze and it is even GUSTING to 20 MPH….

    hmmmmm

pressure in Clarksville is stable while for the rest of us it’s falling?

  5. Eric says:

Growing up in Clarksville, I know all too well the differences in weather between here and there. Seems as if it was going to “snow” Clarksville would get it. It didn’t matter if the temperature was 50, it was going to snow. Clarksville will always be my home, but I like it the weather here much more.

Smyrna is freakin hot! Haha. Ok Justin its 8pm..where is our update?? :)

  7. Donna Jones says:

Okay Justin where is the update. I have read everything on NASHVILLEWX.COM and haven’t found the answer. It doesn’t matter where you are in Tennessee right now, its hot.

  8. Justin says:

Whoops! Better late than never…it’s Smyrna. I’m glad Eric chimed in b/c he’s got the right answer. Smyrna usually runs about 3 to 5 degrees warmer than the rest of us, particularly on a sunny day. I’ve never been there, but I’d guess that the airport tarmac is the culprit. A bigger gripe: those are some of the only current conditions for our area - we need more weather observation sites in the mid-state!

  9. Jaime says:

I am in Crossville now and it is a wonderful 83 degrees…life is great!!!

  10. Laura says:

Well, here in Smyrna where it is always hotter it is now raining and thundering. I’m fixing to leave for Gallatin for a softball tournament, should I waste my time going? My husband and boys are going to buffalo Valley to race should they waste their gas?
