The News 2 City Cam as of noon showed a blue sky. However, the storms will be breaking out during the afternoon heat, so the blue skies in the picture will be replaced by towering cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds (t’storms) later this afternoon. As yesterday, some of the storms will contain gusty and possibly damaging winds and hail. What else is new?
Well, there actually is something new. A front will increase our chances for storms on Thursday, especially during the afternoon and evening, and some could be severe. On Friday, morning showers will give way to afternoon sun with cooler temps and lower humidity. That break from the heat and humidity will last through the weekend.

What will be the main threats in these storms tomorrow? Not really a chance of tornados, right?
Like every meteorologist says, “You never can truely rule out a tornado.”
As of right now, they’re just calling for thunderstorms, Kacey. That could change but it looks like it’s just going to be the usual summer thunderstorms.
Good, just usual summer thunderstorms don’t really bother me.
Anywho, I’m planning a trip to Gatlinburg in July. For all of you who have been, What’s the weather like up there during the summer? Same here. I’ve never heard of any bad storms up there really.
It depends on where you are but some of these storms are dumping a couple of inches of rain in a half hour to 45 minutes. It is best to pullover if you are ever caught driving in one of these torrential downpours. We have reports of flash flooding in areas around Nashville. The flooding will recede quickly.
I was wondering if the radar is super sensitive ( NexRad ) but it looks like there is alot of wind headed towards nashville, coming out of the east storms… Looks to me like a wind line
Wow, really localized t-storms tonight. That storm that popped up around the airport? I could hear it, see the lightning from it, but barely got any rain from it. I love spring/summer storms.
Yeah I think it was last year a storm popped up here and it was pouring rain on one side of the yard and the other side was almost dry as a bone.. CRAZY!
.88 inches of rain here in the last 30 minutes.
We’ve had a handful of severe thunderstorm warnings with the isolated storms Wednesday evening. One for Sumner County until 7:30pm.
Main threat: torrential rain with flash flooding in localized areas, small hail, wind gusts to about 60mph. At least, it cools us off a bit!
The heavy rain we had in Celina lasted only a little while but it was enough to cool things down drastically! Coooooool!
You know, all evening, I have watched storms on Franklin’s east side, and now on it’s west side, and even on the South side, but not a drop yet at my house. I’m close to downtown, off of Hillsboro Road. Mother Nature’s toying with me!
