A Few Strong Storms Possible

Just a heads up that a few of our afternoon thundershowers may possess small to medium hail and/or a brief downburst of gusty wind. There have been a couple of severe thunderstorm warnings issued by the NWS - click the “Watches and Warnings” link at the top of the blog to check on your county.

Right now we have quite a bit of Thunder and dark clouds all around Portland, one just to our north near Franklin KY and one just to our south, near Gallatin. No rain here yet, just a lot of noise so far.

We had some very heavy rain and frequent cloud-to-ground lighting in Murfreesboro, along with hail. Some was close to ping pong size. It was crazy. You could see it moving in. At one point it was raining in the front of my house enough to have ponding of water on the road, but it wasn’t even wet in the backyard. It’s crazy when you see something like that.

David, you are exactly right. I am in Murfreesboro near Rockvale and we had the strongest winds I have ever seen. My truck was moving from the wind and it was changing directions. We also had lots of hail and unbelieveable amounts of rain.
