Storm Watch West

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch includes western Kentucky and west Tennessee this Tuesday evening.ww0250_radar.gif

There have been wind damage and hail reports with this system back in southern Missouri.

While we do expect some rain and, at least, a few thundershowers later tonight.. say after 10 o’clock there is a good chance these storms will weaken as the sun goes down.
We’ll keep you posted.

    Lisa,
I went to weather.com, I’m not cheating on ya’ll, but they usually have a map showing where the fronts are stationed at during the present time. On there it seems like the front has dropped South and seems to be sitting over Nashville. If that’s the case does that mean once it passes we won’t have to worry about anymore rain?

  2. on the nws radar from memphis it looks like the storms are starting to fire now and wonder when they will be here tonight and if the will be severe. will watch the blog for weather updates as always…..

  3. Ryan in Hickman County says:

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for Houston, Benton, and Humphreys Counties.. Large Hail biggest threat..

  4. here we go again ryan…lol…they look to me as they are now starting to fire west of here….

  5. Anonymous says:

is there going to be real strong storms or is it just going to be rain?

  6. David F. in Murfreesboro says:

    Lisa,
What is your take on these storms? Severe when they get to the ‘Boro or not?

  7. i now see that memphis has a tornado warning…what does this mean for us?

  9. David F. in Murfreesboro says:

I don’t think the tornado warning in Memphis will make it to us because the NWS has gave them a 2% chance of tornados for extreme W TN. As far as M TN we only have a 5% chance of Hail & Wind. Also the storms seem to have more of a SE movement to them. The Cold Front has more of an arch in it then a straight line. The cold front right now goes from basically Memphis and arches upwards towards Nashville then goes straight across. I wish Lisa could let us know what she thinks about the whole thing. Lisa if your looking at the blog, could you let us know if I’m on the right track with my thoughts? Thanks.

  10. Ryan in Hickman County says:

Yeah, here we go again.. It is soo bright outside lightning just flashing right and left, its a really nice site. lol

  11. servocrow says:

From the Area Forecast Discussion at the NWS:

    AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
    NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
    903 PM CDT TUE APR 25 2006

.DISCUSSION…THE SURFACE FRONT HAS ENTERED NORTHERN MIDDLE
TENNESSEE, WITH ONLY SCATTERED CELLS HAVING FORMED ALONG THE
BOUNDARY. THE EVENING SOUNDING FROM OHX DOES SHOW AN UNSTABLE
ENVIRONMENT, BUT A LITTLE ON THE DRY SIDE, AND WITH VERY LITTLE
LOW-LEVEL WIND SHEAR. RADAR SHOWS NO ECHOES FARTHER UPSTREAM, AND AM
BEGINNING TO WONDER IF WE`LL SEE ANY POST-FRONTAL DEVELOPMENT. WILL
UPDATE THE PUBLIC FORECAST LATER ON IN THE EVENING TO REDUCE THE
POP`S ACROSS OUR NORTHERN COUNTIES DOWN TO SCATTERED, BUT WILL LEAVE
    IN LIKELY POP`S FARTHER SOUTH.
    &&

    .OHX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES…NONE.

  12. servocrow what do you think about tonight? you seem to know alot about this type of weather do inform us please with your wisdom… :)

  13. David F. in Murfreesboro says:

I know someone at News 2 has to know something, I just wish they could give us something. I know there’s more then just me who’s scared of tornado’s.

  14. shiela says:

I’m like Mark…so what exactly does all that mean for the southern counties - Williamson & Maury?

  15. servocrow says:

Trust me, Mark….no one really wants to hear from a S.P.A.W.G. (Semi-Professional Amateur Weather Geek) right now…

In about 40 minutes, you can turn on the sets and get your info from the PROS…or you could watch one of the FOX channels now and see what they are saying…It is unlikely anyone is going to chime in before the 10:00 pm broadcast…Possible, not likely…So visit the Weather Channel…or go to The Weather Underground Website….Have a nap…

  16. David F. in Murfreesboro says:

I have to say though, as much as I pay attention to this blog, this is the 1st time that none of the Mets have said anything. I’d like to take that as good news like their not worried about anything, but I just don’t know. Please someone say something before I have to take a pill.

  17. kacey says:

Does it look like the storms are weakening as they move south?

  18. i am not too worried now that servocrow has spoken…eating choc chip ice cream and watching the blog….

  19. David F. in Murfreesboro says:

    Lisa
    PPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEE say something!!!!!!!!!!

  20. servocrow says:

Dang, wished I had some ice cream…
:-) I do need to go to sleep, though…been up for a looooooooooong time today……

  21. Val says:

This is so cool to find that I am not the only one that is obsessed with the weather and gets freaked out with thoughts of tornado warnings. This has been such a frightening year already. I live in the Boro… it looks like the storms with the warnings may miss us if the stay true to their SE movement. I am waiting for the WeatherChannel to update… and waiting to hear from Lisa at 10.

Hi to everyone… and STAY SAFE!!!
    V

  22. Lisa says:

NO WORRIES!! The few cells that triggered warnings have weakened. I do not see any concern of severe weather tonight. Sorry for the delay…. it’s hard to get to TV, phone calls, emails, blog,… oh, and the forecast!!

  23. David F. Murfreesboro says:

    Lisa,
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I know you’re busy, I just crazy during storms. I can’t help it. I’ve been in 2 tornado’s and ever since the 1st tornado they freak me out. Sorry if I bug you!

  24. Lisa says:

No problem, David. Sorry, I couldn’t relieve your fears sooner. Sleep well!

  25. tera says:

    anything for Hendersonville ??????????????/

  26. Lucas says:

My forecast for Hendersonville tonight… sleep. :)

  27. Lisa says:

All of middle Tennessee is off the hook for severe weather the rest of the night! Nite-nite!

  28. Are you sure 66561 about this?!?
