Windy Today
Monday, November 28th, 2005T’Storms Today…Some Strong?
Monday, November 28th, 2005Morning temperatures in the 60s with clouds and a gusty wind from the south. A line of storms will march from west to east across the mid-state from morning through the afternoon. Highs will jump into the lower 70s before the storms roll in. In Nashville, we’ll expect that line of thunderstorms to arrive around midday through the early afternoon (in the morning for folks near the Tennessee River and in the late afternoon and evening if you live toward the Cumberland Plateau). Some severe weather is possible with the storms from late morning through the afternoon, including the slim chance of an isolated tornado. Today’s weather setup doesn’t look as potent as November 15th, but we’ll keep a very close eye on things with News 2’s Storm Tracker. To check the latest for your county, utilize the “Watches and Warnings” and “NWS Radar Loop” links at the top of the blog.

Windy, A.M. Showers Today…Storms Tomorrow
Sunday, November 27th, 2005

Strong south winds today bring some morning rain. By afternoon we’ll have a few passing showers but also some glimpes of sunshine as we get yet another warm day across middle Tennessee. But warm weather in late November sometimes pays a price; when cold fronts finally arrive to bring us back around to “normal” highs we can experience strong storms. That’s the forecast for Monday; a line of strong storms with possible damaging winds. We’ll have the storm team up and running and watching everything on Storm Tracker. Stay tuned!
Warmer Temps And Clouds Heading Our Way…Rain Late Tonight-Sunday
Saturday, November 26th, 2005
A warm front will bring milder weather into the mid state today, but also some cloud cover. By late Saturday night and parts of Sunday showers will follow. Winds today will pick up out of the southeast at 10-20 mph.
Chilly Holiday Friday
Friday, November 25th, 2005
After a frigid start in the low 20’s (teens north of Nashville), highs should reach the mid 40’s by afternoon. If you click on the 7 day forecast (above left) you’ll see we are in for a weekend warm up with a few showers by Sunday.
Cold Shopping Day…Bundle Up!
Thursday, November 24th, 2005
For those planning on doing some early morning shopping, it is going to be pretty cold. A cold front will drop temps to the low 20’s in the city at daybreak, and teens in the countryside, especially in north Middle Tennessee.
It will be a little more tolerable by afternoon with highs mid 40’s under mostly sunny skies.
If you click on the 7 Day Forecast above left, you’ll see quite a warm up over the weekend, with showers by late Saturday night and Sunday.
Tropical Storm Delta
Thursday, November 24th, 2005With only seven days left in the official Atlantic hurricane season, we’ve got another named storm. Tropical Storm Delta is way out in the Atlantic Ocean and won’t impact the United States, but still counts as the 25th named storm of the year (a record). If Delta’s maximum sustained winds strengthen by 10 mph, we’ll have our 14th hurricane of the season (furthering the record). 2005 has been a wild hurricane season…I’m sure I’m not the only one happy to see it coming to an end.
Thanksgiving Forecast
Thursday, November 24th, 2005Happy Thanksgiving! It will be a nice day across the mid-state, with sunshine and dry weather. Temperatures this morning will briefly jump into the lower 50s before falling through the 40s during the afternoon thanks to a northwest wind. I expect that by 5pm temperatures will have fallen into the lower 40s in most spots:

Black Friday morning will be cold, in the 20s! Travel conditions look good through the weekend around the Mid-South and Southeast. The Great Lakes and Northeast (as well as parts of the Appalachian Mountains) will deal with wintry weather today. Visit www.weather.gov to click on your specific destination for a forecast from the National Weather Service. Travel safely!
Nice Sunset
Thursday, November 24th, 2005Yesterday’s middle and high layer clouds made for a nice looking sunset. I didn’t have my camera handy yesterday afternoon, but we received an e-mail and picture from Janeece Chambosse. She captured the shot in Bigbyville, which is south of Columbia in Maury County.
