Tropical Depression #26 became Tropical Storm Beta early this morning in the southwestern Caribbean Sea off the coast of Nicaragua and Costa Rica. It has winds of 40 mph and is moving northwest at 5 mph. The slow movement will bring heavy rains to the mountains of Central America, which isn’t a good situation for that area. Beta is now the record-setting 23rd named storm of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season. Here’s the National Hurricane Center’s predicted path for Beta for the next five days.
